That is so rude. People are just so inconsiderate of others. She should have known that you were going to pass by and she should have moved out of courtesy, especially if all she's going to do is walk away to look at stuff.

I have had this to happen. Military commissaries can be a battlefront. Anyway, this is what I have ran across and have done.
One you did right by moving the cart, there was nothing bad about it. That is probably the nicest way of doing it.
Me, I can be mean when I want to. When women have done this or my favorite, two get in the aisle and want to gossip or catch up with one another and won't move out of the way. I fill their baskets up with the most expensive things I can find on the aisle. I drop the items in their baskets when they aren't looking.
Not long ago, I took my mother shopping who had recently had a stroke. She moves slower and more purposeful now. Anyway, we were in a civilian grocery store and this amazon woman kept getting in front of us and blocking the entire aisle. We said excuse me to her several times and she would ignore us. Well I was not trying to show mom how mad I was getting so I let it slide a few times. The woman kept this up. Finally she blocked us one last time and pulled out her cellphone for a call and refused to move. Looked right at us and stood there and turned away. I couldn't contain it anymore. I tapped her on the shoulder and when she turned around, I told her loudly to move her fat ***, she wasn't the only f**king person in the store. My dear little sweet mother never said a word except "Well that got her to move."
Another time a woman (my ex mother in law) had aggravated me similarly, so I waited and made sure I got in the check out behind her. At the check out I began asking her how long was she out for, and I never knew the mental hospital let committed people out. And I didn't realize she had a clean bill of mental health already, that was fast. She made a beeline fast to the door. I have never seen her again.

HA HA HA! That's a funny story, All I have to say is good thing it didn't happen to ME when I was pregnant (I say that only because I was a raging ball of moody/pissy hormones, NOT to be messed with, I'm surprised my husband has survived two full pregnancies with me and still has all his body parts), so YES we all have days like that, I think I would have pushed her cart out of the way too (especially since you so politely JUST asked someone else to move out of your way to get through), although I wouldn't have zinged it 15 feet, I probably would have pushed it into her, and said, oh don't you HATE these narrow isles? Or try that one thing like that commercial and just say "thank you!" (remember it calms over any situation). The lady was obviously being RUDE, IF I were in her position I would have parked my cart to where you could get through and either waited for you to get through before blocking up the isle (I have a young kid and wouldn't want to walk too far from my cart), or otherwise I would have left my cart and gone and gotten the item I wanted/needed leaving room for you to get through (that answer obviously IF I went without said little one in cart). The lady ought to be thankful she wasn't in Venezuela, they push right throw, banging carts and not saying sorry or excuse me if you are in their way. Anyway, thanks for the laugh!

People out there are becoming more and more inconsiderate. I have moved people's carts to get them out of the way if they haven't responded to "excuse me".
One way I have resolved this problem in recent years is to either shop online or go to the grocery store in the middle of the week when nobody else has the money to go to the store. Wednesdays are good days because most specials start on that day.

Sometimes don't you just want to plow the cart right into those ignorant, inconsiderate jerks at the store? It seems like stuff like this happens everytime I try to go out and shop for groceries during the day. I work 3pm to 11pm so I usually try to go after I get off work so that I don't have to deal with the crowds of oblivous people who are stuck in their own little bubble worlds and don't realize there are other people on the planet....In other words...yeah I have those days to :)

I know what you mean. It seems like everyone is rushing around these days and manners are the last thing on their minds. Remain calm. What I usually do in that sort of situation (Of course, it is too late for this occurence) is to look at the person that originally moved for me and say something along the lines of, "I appreciate your politeness, I will take you up on it when she decides she finished intruding." Or look at the mannerless idiot and say, "Excuse you" and just stare her down. This always has a great impact because they will be so stunned by your comment that all they can do is move out of your way.

I am an executive in a retail store. I see people like that all the time. Unfortunately for me, I cannot act as you did. But I incourage it!
Nobody has the right to be so unconcious of others' whereabouts. I wouldn't be able to sleep for weeks if I ever did that to someone else; to just block their path is the rudest thing!
So, I say, well done! Embarass her, it's her fault, and everyone knows it! You called her on it! If I was there, and an arguement ensued, I'd defend you!
Whew, that's a touchy subject for me too, lol

I have had those days, more than I care to remember. I politely move the other persons cart a few feet ahead of myself, so I can get around it, and say excuse me, I would like to get through.
I once had to spin around, redo my steps and use another isle to get where I wanted to go in the first place.. Maybe just try to remember that they are not having the best of days either? Growl as you go past?

was the second lady aware you were trying to pass? If this was a lady who may have been a bit senile, that was very much uncalled for. I'd have hurt someone if they did that to my grandmother while she was alive. However, if the woman was just being rude, knew you were trying to pass and blocked you anyway, you should have also added a thankyou for letting me through and have a nice day. Unless she was attractive. then you completely blew it.

Sometimes these selfish aisle hogs need to be taught a lesson! lol. I can't stand that either. They tilt the cart at an angle and then they take up the rest of the aisle. It is so rude.
