When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean living.'"
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow!

When I read the intro to your question, I came in to kind of give you a hard time but I really liked the poem, if you are the author, very nice. That is the way I think of it, I don't need to stand on a soap box and preach, this is nicely put.

I believe I understand what you're getting at. Too many people point a finger and cry "Hypocrisy!" when a Christian says or does something that is not perfect. But we are not supposed to be perfect; we are struggling.

I love your poem. It's great, the flow is smooth, and it's catchy and meaningful. I'm Christian too, and really appreciate this poem, since I feel the exact same way. It's good to find someone as strong about how the feel about God as me. I like it so much, I'm saving it on my PC. :)

I really loved that. To me that explains a true Christian well. So many think we are so full of ourselves. Did you write this poem? God knows I aint perfect. I still have so many things to ask God to help me overcome. God bless you for putting this poem up.

I think you speak very well for us Christians. I am always very careful about who I discuss my faith with. If I claim Christ and then mess up I dishonor him. I do talk about God with certain people and they have told me that I inspire them. That is one of the most important parts of my faith personally.

when i say i am Muslim, I say that I am not asking God to make my life a cake walk by cleaning up wherever I go. I am saying that I worship him, and only him, and get the gift of mercy as I do not mess up on purpose.

Praise God! Thats very inspirational...
...here is a part from "Footprints in the Sand"
Lord, I don't understand why, when I needed you most
you would leave me. "The Lord replied", "my Son, My precious child, I Love You and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints. IT WAS THEN THAT I CARRIED YOU...
