Yes. Since 1945 there has been a % decline of Catholicism, and Protestantism, in Europe, even though some countries saw rises in %. This has been do to the secularization of Europe. What is know, however, is that % depends on how traditional the diocese is. The greater adherence to the Church and to orthodoxy, the less the impact of secularization and the greater the chance that the diocese has increased the number of its faithful.
This site gives great statistical data and you can see the % change of specific diocese over time. However, it should be noted that this data does not take into account migration patters of people moving into and out of a diocese.

Yes, millions died during the war.
One example, over 6 million Poles perished during WWII. That was 22% of the population of the country. 3 million were Jews. Almost all of the others were Catholic.
Then the atheistic Soviet Union took many steps to stamp out all religion (including Catholicism) in their European satellite countries.

Yes. After WWII the Soviet Socialist Republic took over half of the european countries and forced communism on every one of them. Communism outlaws religion of all types.

No, since the Nazi cyanide provider, Pope John Paul II joined the church, all the other Nazis did too, like the Pope Benedict.
