It doesn't matter to me... at work I'll take a 2 page memo any day over a meeting.

very brief and to the point. When reading a memo I want the facts and only the facts. less than a page is best. if i want more details I will ask.

Depends on how formal your boss wants it. Both are on company letterhead. And a memo doesn't get signed. So, it could be as long as the boss is winded!

A well drafted memo should not be more than couple of paragraphs if you want it to be read, understood and appreciated. Don't print a booklet with 20 pages in it and expect it to be read (like Jerry McGuire).

Make it crisp and sharp.
