Hillbillies are people who lived in the hills and mountains from Virginia to Arkansas. They were people who very seldom came into a town, were typically uneducated, and unaware of what was going on in the rest of the world. As you can probably tell from their undignified title, they were mocked and ridiculed by the more worldly and sophisticated as well.

I'm okla and i think a "red neck" is a name given when a person or people do something dumb. Hillbilly is an old name for people who lived after the old west in a caertan way.

in my opinion....rednecks are white trash that can live anywhere really. Trailor parks, low income housing, you know, the people you always see on the news and on COPS. Hillbilly's live in the mountains. Like Kentucky, virginia, and west virginia. Now, before everyone gets mad.... I don't mean everyone that lives in those states are hillbillys. Just the ones that live in houses with 10 cars in the yard, kids running around dirty with no shoes on, etc. My grandparents were hillbillys and I love them.
