I have just seen this given as an answer alot, and know for a fact that most Pagans do not own a Bible. I do used to be Christian, and as such know that Christians are to 'love thy neighbor'. Not yey them head with a heavy book. (I am speaking medaphoricaly hear people. I am not being letteral with my last sentance.) [Yes I have horrorible spelling, and I am in college.]

To Melissa S, I have not lost my 'faith'; but rather awoken to it. I do not hold myself to a different standard than I hold a Christian. I respect other peoples faiths; for I am no god, and I should not act as if I am one. To the others I am a writer and when I am typing I do not particually pay attention to what I am typing, sorry for the gramar errors.

Actually I have never gotten that response. I do have several bibles here as well as other religious books. I have answered the questions for Christians and no one has ever told me to read a bible. I have read it and I am not a Christian, any more anyways.

Firstly, I am sorry for your loss of faith.
In saying that had you been a hard and true Christian then you would know that we are directed to answer with the truth which is the Bible. the WORD of God, I for one cannot profess to know everything but I do know that the Bible speaks no Lie's and does not, no matter what people might say contradict itself.
And how much love should we show? I pray for people but that certainly does not mean that I will not defend myself or my beliefs. So I find it ironic that Atheist think the moment Christians defend with anything other then God Bless we are hypocrites. I find that to be a double standard, you can be a hypocrite, why? because you hold yourself to no higher standard yet you hold me to a standard that you yourself say does not exist. Why is that?

I have seen Christians call muslims, mormons, atheists, unbelievers, all brothers and sisters. hahhaahhahahahaa
What a very ignorant Christian. Explain to me how a Christian is a brother in Christ to a muslim?
a brother in Christ to a atheist?
a brother in Christ to a unbeliever.?
This is a sad day my friend. Your typical Christian has not a clue what it is even about. This is the teachings they are getting today.
hahaa. swooooooooosh.
a lot of pagans and a whole lot of atheists know the Bible , for what it says, than a few Christians on here.
Great Question. Have a good week.

It's just a stock answer for people who can't think for themselves and lack the creative ability to be able to credibly speak about their beliefs. I don't care what your beliefs are, you should be able to defend them firmly, professionally, and credibly. By the way, you are a crappy speller, as you noted. There is no excuse for this. You are making a mockery of all your English teachers. If you are a college student, this is completely inexcusable. No wonder the country is so dumbed down. People with spelling like that have no business in college.

Sometimes people respond like that when others answer a Biblical question without knowing the Bible. It's like me responding to Moby Dick if I had never read it. The person asking the question would know I had no idea what I was talking about.

Many pagans, atheists and agnostics they to use Bible verses, taken out of context, to prove their points. The make the claim that a certain verse means blah blah, but when the whole context is considered, the meaning of the passage means something totally different.
(Use the spell checker.)

In my opinion its because they don't want to discuss or debate anything, they are not willing to look at the other side of things. You can have a discussion without trying to convert someone to your beliefs and without changing yours, but they seem to think that is horrible. Not all of them just a few.
Also they seem to be under the misconception that if you don't believe as they do you haven't read the bible.

Uuuh, okay ...? You're not doing yourself any favors by admitting you have horrible spelling (and grammar) and are in college. SpellCheck is your best friend.
Like the user above me said, Christians use the Bible as a stock answer so they don't have to think for themselves. It's the Bible's job to think for them.

Because the Bible contains the Word of God and reading it will enlighten any who have not completely turned their back on the truth.
