Has anyone ever dated someone and at the time they were so in love. But after you break up and it's over do you find yourself wondering how you ever really liked that person in the first place?

This is a common occurrence! In my opinion the most predominant cause is over-idealization. In psychological terminology the definition of over- idealization would be a emotional defense mechanism that splits something one might be ambivalent about into two representations; one favorable and one deficient, yet it is something that exists only as a mental image and is a portrayal of an ideal object or living entity.

YES! My 2nd to last ex! I thought I was so in love with him and that we'd get married and etc etc but during the end of the relationship, things got really ugly. After the police report I filed and the restraining order I received against him which is still in effect, I was like "What the hell was wrong with me?!"
