My 1 year old cat stands in her box and pees pointing out of the box...Any suggestions to help stop this?

The first thought that came to my head, was possibly getting an enclosed box, with a top and a door. This might make the cat go more towards the middle of the box, not the walls or outside. My cat had a similar problem only... the other end. And doing this cleared everything up... Hope this helps!

This could be happening for a couple of reasons. Cats are very picky about the litter box. it must be cleaned and scooped regularly for them to continue to use it effectively. Make fure that the litter box is clean and if that doesn't work, there is something that you can get from the Vet called Cat Attract. You put it in the litter box with the cat litter. I had a probem with my cat and I bought this and now he has no problem using the littler box. It has an odor in it that attracts them to the litter box. I hope this helps. Good luck.

My cat does the same thing, and the covered boxes do no good. She can still stand on the sides and pee through the crack where the top and bottom meet. I found that she does not like the feel of the litter on her feet so unless she has to stand on it, she won't. She stands on the sides to do her other business also, luckily that stays in the box and she will quickly bury it. Try changing litter and see if it helps.

Have you tried a covered litter box? I had this problem with my siamese, so I got a covered litter box with a ramp made by booda. It wasnt that expensive, & it forced him to walk into it a little way before doing his duty.

Good luck!

Get her a bigger box! My cats required a bigger box because they needed the room to move around in.

Your cat is trying to establish her territory ... which is usually what the boy cats do ... but there must be something that threatening her territory. Just like with a dog, you have to pay attention and slowly start to change the cat's behavior.

my kitty doesnt have very good aim either. i had to get one of those cat boxes that has a cover on it. so they have to actually get into it. it works, but they both still manage to get litter all over the floor.

Every time you see your cat doing this rub his nose in it and place him back in the box toward the back.. Hope this helps.
