I've had that same question asked to me before. Personally, I believe that if they are saved that the guilt would probably eat them up and they would want to get married. They can go to the court house. It's cheap and super easy. On the other hand...do you think there were marriage licenses in bible days? That's pretty much the only thing that makes a difference. Tell them they'll feel awesome to say their vows before God.

Only really uptight conservative people will tell you they need to be married. And only religious fanatics and extremeists will too. Since we can't actually ask god, why not imagine what god might think? Even though we can't know, we can assume that god knows they love eachother and god knows they are together so what difference does it make. Save the money.

the bible never says that a man and woman have to be married before a priest, minister, or justice of the peace. So I would say that when two people confess their love to each other...they are married in Gods eye. The bible does make reference to a divorce certificate, but never says anyone else needs to be involved.

Living together without benefit of marriage has always been refered to as "living in sin". It's time for them to grow up and get with the program, if not for themselves, than for their children. There are practical legal reasons for this as well.

yes it is....but since they are together all they need to do now is make it right in Gods eyes and get married......a couple in my church just got saved and they didn't know that they were in sin....very immature in the lord...but the lord kept speaking to them separately that this wasn't right so they asked and ..found out what the Bible says and they got married and they are doing great with it...no more conviction....

I occasionally see this question, and I think truthfully it's one that should be dodged. The question should be thrown right back at them.......what is the reason that you WON'T get married when you obviously have a working history together?

No it is not wrong for them to live together. That is common law marriage. alot of states recognize it.. Not sure the church would.

If they are truely saved... then they should have no objection to getting married... it is easy.. takes about 3 days in some states.. takes an hour in others.

We don't need a "ceremony" to be married... The ceremony is simply a societal formality. If they want to make it legal then yes... but in God's eyes they are already married.

10 years is a long time to co habitat. They should go to the justice of the peace and make it official.
