I say that "relationships are like fingerprints, no two are alike." Now that we as humans have the opportunity to live longer, when you look for a long-term relationship are you looking for a life-long partner as well? Do you go into the relationship with a pre-determined length of time or will it depend on the kind of relationship you get into or have?

Relationships swing back and forth from love to friendship...

Because of the tremendous opportunity that is offered nowadays, sometimes what we don't get at home is often fulfilled elsewhere...the workplace....sporting events...religious communities, etc., ...The days of boxing people in are over ...But, somehow through it all, people remain true if the other partner is reasonable and understanding.

Society is still growing and changing....who knows what the real answer is .... Maybe, in a hundred years, people will look back and say, 'hey, my great-great grand mother and her husband had a marriage that lasted for ten years....Wow, oh, boy, that must have been a romantic time....

Who knows....!

Yes I would like a life long partner. Your right no two are a like. It has to depend on the kind of relationship it turns out to be. No since staying in if it's not working.

I say a long term relationship is anything over a year. Anytime I have started a relationship, I go into it with the intention of making it long term. If you aren't trying to make it work and find the one you want to be with, then what's the point?

"A longterm relationship" to me is anything longer than a year. When I looked for relationships, I always looked for someone I could see myself with forever. There is no pre-determined time. I just wanted to find "the one." With the opportunity to live longer came higher divorce rates. Think about it - instea dof being married for 5, 10, 15 years before one of you dies - you're looking at 60+ years - whew, that's a long time for one person! That's something one definately has to think about before getting into "a longterm relationship" - it's a lot more "long" than before!

I have been in my current relationship for 3 years. I think this is a long term relationship. I have invested a lot of time into it and now I don't want it to end.

if you are at the point that you get out of bed in the morning and go to the bathroom half asleep and fall in the stool because he left the lid up again, or if you have to remove all the bras and things off the shower rod before you can take a shower, and then go to the living room coat closet to get your clothes for the day because there is no more room in the bed room closet because of her **** in there, that is a long term relationship.
