I think Teddy Roosevelt, "said it all"!!!!! Here's part of his speech. (TOO BAD he's not President TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!)

"In the first place,we should insist, that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith, becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man, because of creed,or birthplace,or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet, an American, and nothing BUT an American....there can be NO divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else, ALSO, isn't an American at all. We have room but for ONE flag, the AMERICAN flag....we have room but for ONE language here, and that is the ENGLISH language......and we have room but for one sole LOYALTY, and that is a loyalty to the American people."

I couldn't have said it better mysel!!!!!!!!!!!!

That gets quoted a lot but the point at issue is that Mexico needs to pack their bags, and get out of our country. The Border Patrol needs to be reinforced, enhanced, audited, and emplaced in such a way as that they'll be effective, the border fence itself needs to get built, and americans need to lobby city/county/state government to act meaningfully and effectively to ensure that labor and other laws are being followed in their areas. Even if the Senate doesn't feel like doing THEIR job, there's nothing stopping the 50 states from taking care of business, as is usually the case...

That is fine. Just don't confuse loyalty to the American people with loyalty to consumption, loyalty to false patriotism (anti-flag burning), or loyalty to a secretive government. The constitution's protections for the individual are important because no society will survive on groupthink. If everyone thinks alike, then what's the point in having so many people? The immigrants who haven't learned English YET are still individuals who can contribute and be Americans. What's worse; the 'Americans' who can't speak or write English or contribute to our creative output because they spend their lives in front of a TV or video game, or the immigrants who speak their own language very well and work hard to better themselves and their children? If we are swearing loyalty oaths, I'll choose the latter any day.

A Man Before His Time

Yep- I'm sure you couldn't have said it better. TR was a great prez (a republican at that-- see Dems can like a Republican prez).

TR was a bit of a paradox. A Republican prez that had postions that today we would consider liberal. He was an environmentalist-- the many national parks and preserves were TRs doing. He also put in place many regulations to make life better for americans (e.g. meat inspections and a few I can't remember at the moment)

He of course also had somewhat conservative postions as the one above (although I consider that one to be pretty middle of the road as it IS reasonable and still embracing of immigration). His foreign policy was pretty much aligned with a conservative postions-- e.g. don't mess with the US

I'm an avid Teddy fan ... I have that framed on my wall ... it's good to know that once upon a time we did have REAL presidents ... people who cared for this nation and its people ... instead of the plastic dummies we have nowadays ... are there any real American men left? Or rather, should I say, are there any real American men in politics these days??

I completely agree. But I feel that way about any country someone chooses to live in should it be different from the one they grew up in.

For example: Should a person move from Canada to Spain and decide to live in Spain for a long period of time, they should learn the language completely, be loyal to Spain, etc.

At one time I would have said he was the last of the REAL MEN, but since this illegal invasion has hit the fan, I've seen a lot of REAL MEN stand up for America!

We need to unite and make our voices heard!

We need a fence....and harsh sanctions against illegal employers.
