Cutting is a pain control mechanism, and if you're using the needles in that way, where you poke yourself in order to control your reaction to some other physical pain, or emotional, or I guess some people to stress, then yes it would be.

I would have to say that it is the same thing as cutting. It is
inflicting pain upon yourself, that causes a "release" that is
sending a signal to your brain of comfort. Most cutters feel this
when they do it. You are just using a different type of object.
Most cutters use glass or a razor. Using needles just makes
it simplier - if you will, you don't get as much blood with a needle.
But the concept is the same.
This is a Mental Health issue. Are you depressed? Depression
is anger turned inward. I know, I've been fighting it for 20 yrs.
I am also a cutter. Never used needles. too risky. Infection with
a needle is risky - you must stop this. You need medical attention. I believe if you were in counseling and on some meds
you would feel alot better. I do.

Cutting and stabbing yourself with needles aren't the same thing. Since cutting is slicing your skin open and stabbing yourself with needles is just putting holes in yourself. But they are both forms of self-mutilation.

It is essentially the same thing.
Sometimes I feel the same way - just want to hurt myself. But i don't cut either, usually with needles.... like a compass needle.
you should speak to someone about it.
So should i....

no poking yourself with needles is usually used for drugs and cutting is actually slicing your body with a knife or some sharp object.

After poking yourself do you bleed? I don't think it's the same as cutting.

I wouldn't really call it "cutting", unless it leaves a scratch mark, then its "scratching" But either way it's still self injury, I would just call it poking or pricking...
