I've been taught all my life that Christians will be taken out of this world "in the twinkling of an eye" one day. You know what I mean. Well, lately, I've heard two very respected evangelists say, "No, we will be left here, the unrepentant will be gone."
What do you say?

That's supposed to say, "Do we stay or go"

One was David Jeremiah. The other was someone my husband heard on Christian radio, but he's not completely sure of the name so I won't post who he thought it might be in case he's wrong.
They were basing this on Matthew 24:37-41
Jesus is referring to the flood "taking people" without warning, then continues on with "one will be taken, the other left."
For those of you who assumed I was just blindly believing what someone said, I had noticed this passage myself just a few days before and wondered about it. Then I heard the info from the evangelist.
Like one of the answerers said, I really don't care. I know the Lord knows what He is doing. Peace to all of you.

all i know is that as a christian, my main concern is doing my best to live a christ-like life. since i believe that god is in control, i will let him deal with all of that. the future is not for man to know and there is a good reason. confusion is our society. live a godly life and he will be there when you need him. personally, if i had to choose; i would rather go.

You say that all your life you have been taught about the Word. If you really want to know something, you need to put the effort in it to get the answers. Don't believe everything you hear without checking it out for yourself in the Word of God.
There are two Jesus Christ's returning to this world. The first one, is the fake. The instead of Christ, or anti-christ. This one will take one of the two in the field, one of the two in the bed, one of the two no matter what they are doing.
Do you remember what the field represents? Its the world. If you are still in the flesh, and someone comes claiming to be God, flee from him. He's the fake.
The second christ to return is the King of kings, and Lord of lords. You'll know Him when He returns. The whole world will know. In the twinkling of an eye your fleshly body will be changed into a incorruptible spiritual body.
Go read it for yourself with new eyes given you by Jesus Christ. This goes out to you as a prayer.><>

There are several trains of thought on this subject. You're talking about the Rapture. There are three basic beliefs on when this will occur:
Pre-Tribulation Rapture
Mid-Tribulation Rapture and
Post-Tribulation Rapture.
For completely selfish reasons, I'm praying that the pre-tribulation rapture is an accurate interpretation of these scriptures.
The common modern belief is that the church, or all believers in Jesus Christ, will meet Jesus Christ 'in the air'.
1st Thessalonians 4 says....
15. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
The word Rapture is never used in the bible.
There are other scriptural facts that give more weight to the PreTrib belief. For example, during the tribulation, Gods Love is not present on the earth. Gods love is present on earth today in the form of the Holy Spirit that dwells in all believers. If His church is 'taken up', then this would explain why his love isn't present during the tribulation and why in just 7 years, the entire earlthly system would fall apart.
But certainly, no one would say that his church will remain and only non-believers would be taken up. It doesn't make sense and isn't scriptural.
God bless!
Watch out for the answer below me. It's from a Jahovah's Witness and they've fallen victim to false teachings. The 144,000 are the 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Isreal (Jews) who will have accepted Christ as the Messiah and will be preaching during the tribulation.

I cannot believe any respected evangelist would say we will be left here, Corinthians tells us in 15:51 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye we shall be transformed and the dead in Christ shall rise first and then those who are alive will be called together in the clouds. I would appreciate knowing the names of the two evangelists who have totally blown this call. Just for my personal knowledge.

That depends. According to the Bible, there are two separate classes referred to: 1) the little flock; and 2) the great crowd. If you're in the little flock - annointed Christians and joint heirs with Christ (144,000 - see Revelation 7:4; 14:1, 3), then you'll be going to heaven to rule over the earth as kings and priests with Christ. If you're of the great crowd (Revelation 7:9), then you'll be staying here on earth to live in the paradise that will be restored just as it was when Adam and Eve were here (remember - the meek shall inherit the EARTH). If you're in neither of these classes because you've chosen not to do things according to God's will, then you'll be going the way of the Dodo because God - being a god of justice - will not continue to allow you to cause the rest of the world who IS willing to live by his standards to suffer because of your behavior.
Sorry in advance if this offends anyone (seems there are quite a few super sensitive one online), but that's what the Bible says and that's what I base my answer on. As always, you are certainly free to disagree.

hmmm... I've often pondered the same question...
the meek shall inherit the world...
the world will be changed in the twinkling of an eye...
the world will be made perfect...
so.. why would the Christians be taken away?... except.. someplace.. I think I read that we will go up to join Christ... is that before or after the wicked are destroyed?

We are living in the end of times. Beware of false prophets. The bible warns us of them.
Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

It is typical for a fundamentalist to hear something and assume it's right without doing any research on it. Do some research on it and you will figure out for yourself what, if anything, will happen.
