Like the price.
I have one and the 5-speed is great on gas mileage, but I'm in 5th gear at 35 mph.
This makes it great for city driving.
Highway speeds are not as economical, but it does accelerate well because the engine is already at 3500RPM
It handles okay because of the light weight.
The seats are a little firm, but it's not supposed to be a Mercedes.

I would wait for the 2007s to become available. They are a much more substantial car than the 2006s are. I did considerable research on the Aveo. That being said, I like the 2006s, too.
I rented a 2006 a couple of times from Enterprise, and it's roomy
and peppy. You can get a great deal on a 2006 now because
of year end clearance. You will most likely have to pay MSRP on
the 2007s, which is something to consider. I stopped looking at Aveos because I bought a Colbalt instead, last week. I love the Cobalt.

ditto on what berrytrain said. although, i also have a Cobalt too. For the price of the cobalt your getting roughly the same gas mileage if not more and 42 more horsepower. but the Aveo would make a great first car,mainly because of price.

Second ugliest car on the planet. I would shoot myself before I would be seen in it.
