These atheists on yahoo are not criminals. It isnt a criminal offense to NOT believe in God. Its rather a trajedy. Many are victims of great disappointments...many are victims of their own reasoning and the deceptive tricks of false teachers. Many blame the " churches hypocrisy " for their unbelief. Lets pray they can forgive us as He has. They are not criminals but victims...casualties of lifes painful tymez.Do you know that scripture says we Christians act out unbelief when we sin as if there is no God ? We are all in a big playground and they are just having a tough tyme. Remember how we would as kids say, " my Dad can do this and this...Hes so strong...etc. " and the other ones would yell in unbelief, " noooooo...ur lying ! Thats not true ! ".We are still doing that as adults. I find many atheists downright enchanting. ( some are rather stunningly good looking to..lol ) We should love and tolerate each other and protect each other..believer or not...Amen

It's true. We are not criminals. At least, as far as I can tell we're not. And scorn? I'm having a hard time deciding which is easier to swallow, scorn or pity.

I don't, however, think that we are a tragedy. I am certainly not the victim of "great disappointments." I'm very well taken care of and quite comfortable with my life. I don't blame the "church's hypocrisy" for my lack of belief. The fact is that I never believed, not even when I was a little boy. I tried to believe for a while, but it was just as plain as day to me that Christianity and (for example) Hinduism could not both be "right" (unless they were both speaking in allegory and metaphor.) Looking further, still as a kid, I couldn't discern the difference between ancient Greek myths and the story of Adam and Eve. They were always clearly just stories. Maybe they were entertaining (especially the Greek ones,) and maybe they were morality plays, but they were clearly no different from the comic-books I also devoured.

I don't think that I'm alone on this one. I would assume that plenty of my atheist friends here are in the same boat. I think that a lot of "atheists" might really be faithful people who sincerely are "mad at god." This includes most of the fifteen-year-olds who ask questions like "Jesus Sux." But, there are also people like myself, who have never believed and never will believe. It is as plain as day to us that we are right, just as it is equally obvious to you that you are.

As we will never agree, I do agree that we shold love and tolerate each other and protect each other. Well said.

While I agree that it isn't a crime not to believe in your god, and I agree it isn't worthy of scorn, the rest of your "analysis" is pretty self serving.

- it's a tragedy
- they are victims of dissapointment
- they have been tricked or use faulty reasoning or listen to false teachers
- they don't believe in god because of church hypocrisy (WTF?)
- casualties of life's pain

Pulllleeze! At least you didn't say "because they love sin".

Have you not considered that maybe we don't believe in your god, because it makes no stinkin' sense!? All any theist has to do is provide compelling evidence for the existence of ANY nontrivial god (wooden idols don't count), and I'll quit being an atheist. I can guarantee you I've already looked much harder than you have. You are NOT up to the challenge, and neither is your pastor, or anyone else thus far. That's the reason I'm an atheist.

...and I'm self taught on the subject as well. I'm not some mindless sheep following whatever lies some "teacher" tells me. I have benefited from teh work of many, but each of them had to make a compelling case. Nothing was taken on faith or their authority.

First of all, learn to spell. It's "time" not "tyme". Now, I am not an atheist but from what I have seen on this board, many people who are atheists are that way because they have actually read the bible and studied it. I have also noticed that most Christians like to assume something they heard is true without putting the effort to do some research on it. Many Christians are against slavery when the Bible isn't (Leviticus 25:44). Do yourself a favor and actually read the Bible before you say anything about it. If you do, you will find out what it really is. Otherwise you just sound stupid.

Im an athiest and I havent been subject to great disapointment! I have lead a very happy life! Nothing has ever happened to me that I havent been able to get through... RELIGION is a PERSONAL choice! You think we are victims.. I think you are a victim of the bible! I dont blame the "churches hypocrisy" for by unbelief, I call it common sense! and common sense tells me to not put all my faith in a book that was supposidly written thousands of years ago.. instead I put my faith in my partner, family and friends! They are the ones that will help me when I am down!

Atheists are humans as well. I don't hate them because it's not good to hate anyone, but I'm not going to say I'm a Christian either. I do believe in God and a higher power but I refuse to claim to be one religion over the other and the reason why is like you said in the question, because of some people I use to go to church with being two faced. When you say that anyone is welcome to a church and would not be turned away, and then in the very next sentence say if someone of another race came in you would have to turn them away....that's being contradictory and that turned me away from the church I went to.

But don't get me wrong, I do believe in God but I do like many people I know. He is what I see him as being, not what everyone tells me he is.

Agree...we should have nothing but love for everyone...even if they hate us.

My pastor always said that the reason why most people don't go to church is because they've already been once. (he also said that people shouldn't object to church because it's full of hypocrites...heck, one more ain't gonna hurt...LOL)

It is so true though. I love the song 'If we are the body' by Casting Crowns...it totally hits a nerve with me in a good way...ya know.

Yes, I have athiest friends (and homosexuals and Wiccans and Pagens...don't think I know any Jews or Muslims though-too bad)...and they are all a joy...they have to be because whether they believe or not, they are a beloved child of God!

Atheists may not be criminals in man made earth laws, but they sure are persecuters, condemning, judgmental, verbally abusive, disrespectful, mocking, and insulting concerning GOD'S Laws!.....ever thought about that?.....Didn't think so!.....GOD WILL JUDGE ON JUDGEMENY DAY!.....(Proverbs 29:26)....of course, it's a double standard with you atheists, you talk as if you're the most perfect on this earth!...yet have No SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE OF GOD And Want To Degrade, Disrespect, And INSULT GOD'S SERVANTS!... You GOD HATING Atheists Actually Log Onto this Site for That Purpose! you should be ashamed of yourself!.....ps. go to a site that believes the same way you believe and talk to each other about how there is no God, because you're not going to change believers who TRUST IN GOD, so you're wasting your time!....

Hey dude, you are too sucked up in your cult. I am sure that it is good and does good things. I support that, but as far as atheists, they are just as strong as religious believers too. One against another is just a debate.

I have been Roman Catholic, for a few decades.
But I had to leave that cult and face reality. Reality makes sense. Being an atheist has beliefs too. I believe that Stem-Cell research will cure major diseases. It hasn't done a whole lot yet (tanks Bush), but I believe. If you want something done, you got to do it yourself. Waiting for God is just that. Waiting.

thrilling the way you probably did not comprise the completed quote from the Cardinal. How reachable. the following, enable me ward off the problem. that is what His Eminence surely stated: "there is a few thing no longer completely human in case you omit transcendent [God] and also you [atheists] aren't to any extent further completely human. they have an impoverished expertise to what that is to be human. we are all made by using God." evaluating this to Hitler is, no offense, ridiculous. It signifies that you're both wanting to disparage faith, or you're thoroughly insensitive to the plight of folk who quite suffered below the Nazis. i will go away it as a lot as others to make your recommendations up which. .

"We should love and tolerate each other and protect each other..believer or not."

Taken from your own words but without the amen only because I believe we should make it happen for ourselves & stop hoping someone else will come help us.

ppl are no better than those they judge.
P.S. I am of no category of religion, I choose to stand alone w/my own belief of who I am & what the universe has to hold.
