do you mean cholestyramine?? Basically, my knowledge is that it's just a drug - in the form of a powder that you mix with liquids...in other words, you're not replacing meals with it (or shouldn't be) and therefore it will do nothing to help you lose weight. Your doctor should have, however...counseled you on reducing your cholesterol intake via your diet - which could also mean eating less fats/red meats, which could possibly cause some weight loss if you had a lot of these types of foods in your diet before.
