You can't cheer her up. Depression is a chemical imbalance in her brain. She needs to see a doctor.

There are a million different kinds of anti-depressants if one isn't working her doctor can try another. It takes a while for some of them to work, sometimes a month or so. She should go back and have her doctor change her meds. Also you can't cheer her up you'll just make yourself tired and frustrated.

You can redecorate the house the way she would want it but ask her first cuz she will probably get mad if ya don't. Is the house messy. I have that problem and it makes my whole family depressed. You could help clean it up. She might need a change of atmosphere. Watch movies w/ her, take her shopping, play boardgames w/ her, go 2 the park, etc. It really depends on what she likes to do. She might need a change of atmosphere. Or she may need to go see a psychiatrist. You can talk to her and just be there 4 her cuz she is going thru a tough time. Hope she starts feelin better:)

You need to clarify "depressed" You can't "cheerup" a person who has clinical depression. Websites can give you an idea if you need medical attention....this site has questions you can check out

www.friendshospitalonline.org/Depressiontest.asp
these websites are not a substitute for a doctor's diagnosis. However, they can give you or your mother some insight into depression.

I often tell people that depression is a physical illness many times...just like diabetes....diabetes needs a physician and so does depression.

i hope this helps...

take care and don't give up!

You should help her find a doctor or get on another medication. She will eventually find something that works if she keeps trying. It's so sad because she is probably making you depressed now too. Always be there for her (it sounds like you are) but try to live your life too. Sometimes people need to help themselves and there is little we can do to help. If you are her caregiver talk to someone to keep your spirits up.

I don't know what the circumstances are but sometimes it takes time for someone to deal with the situation that they are going through.
keep talking to her and make sure she doesn't get too depressed. I know this isn't easy.

Go and ask her to pray to God together with you every moment everyday. Then hug her and tell her, "Mom, God loves you and desires you to have a blessed & abundant life. Jesus has paid the price for our depression on the cross."

P.S.: Never lose heart, have faith in God. Always expect the best from Him =)

ask and find out what she is depressed about... tell her that you strongly suggest that she sees a doctor before thoughts of negative action occur, such as suicide , cutting herself etc...there is help out there for her so do your part by taking her to see a doctor and tell your family members so that they can be aware of this situation and so they can be her support group...good luck and god bless you and your mom...i suggest you to please go to www.joelosteen.com and on the left side there is a list of things so scroll down to prayer request and ask the prayer partners to pray for your mom..you just added that she has seen a doctor...try another doctor and another medication...ask her to join therapy

Make sure she takes her medication daily.
Let her know how much you love her.Actions speak louder than words.
Talk to her about your life. Let her share your joy.
Exercise is important but ease into it gradually. Ask her to go for a walk or bicycle with you.
