I am 23 and the same thing happened to me. Turned out it wasn't my heart at all. Supposedly the acid in my stomach was getting all churned up and causing heartburn. This may not be your case though. Go to the doc and get a stress test done to see if your heart is weak.

you should definetly get it checked out.

However

On occasion my chest would start to hurt and I got it checked out. They told me that it was an inflamation in the chest wall near my heart, and not my heart that was hurt. Later, it was further explained to me that it was the cartilage being pulled this way and that and because of that, I would feel those pains.

If you refuse to see someone about it for whatever reason, i would suggest taking some Ib profen. Go for about 4-600 and see how it feels. Don't over do it with the meds or the running. (especially since you don't exercise often, you don't want to push yourself to hard).

But I still say see a doc. Good luck

YOu might be suffering by Bronchitis. Have your lungs checked. It's not the heart. It's your lungs which swell, and put a pressure on heart, which makes it hard for your heart to pump.

Go get it checked out. We don't know. I do know more than one young guy who has dropped dead jogging and it was a horrific shock to everyone because they appeared to be in such good health, thin, athletic, nonsmoker. Yes, you are a man but you are not indestructible. So get it checked out. Your loved ones need you around for many more years.

Yes, please honey. We wouldn't want anything happening to such a fine young strapping specimen such as the likes of you. Be prepared that Doc might tell you that it is nothing. You just be sure to document things. Many times tests are inconclusive, but no-body knows your-body like you. Does breathing into your cupped hands help? My grandma suggested it for me and it actually works. (she was a nurse)

Sometimes this happens when you are just not use to running that much... Just in case, you should consult your doctor (or at least call him/her up and ask about your problem). Hope everything turns out OK! :)

Yes, see a dr. for piece of mind if nothing else. They'll probably do an EKG and a stress test. No big deal!

Any time you have chest pains you should have them checked out, especially if it has happened more than once. Talk to your doctor to rule out anything serious.
