You people need to look at things the way they should be looked at, and not just go by heresay, or bits and pieces of media crap.
We have a military for a reason, and their job description is made quite clear before anyones actually signs up. They take an oath to serve & protect their country. If some one comes here and causes harm, then it is our job to see that justice is served. Do we just randomly go to other countries to kill people?? NO, but, we seem to always be at the receiving end of such barbaric acts, and we dont have to take it.
Yes, it is a plus that we captured Saddam, but, the cause for thousands being killed in 9/11 is still at large, and at this point, if we were to pull out, then we would be over run with more of those people... and that cant happen!

America has bought and broken Iraq -- now the USA is paying for it. And, not trillions yet (it's now only just over a trillion), but it will be trillions in another two years at present rate of expenditure.
The USA is there to stay, for the foreseeable future. A recent news report suggests that the military will be there until 2016 which is probably on the low side.
Here's the irony: the Sunnis, who until recently have been bitterly opposed to US forces in Iraq, have now done a 180. Now, they want the US to have troops there for as long as necessary; the Shiites there are too much of a threat for the Sunnis to handle, despite the insurgency. And, in case you don't know, Saddam was Sunni who had been bought by the CIA in the 1970s.
Now, the USA is quite ready to oblige about staying: not only for guaranteed acces to the oil, but also to maintain the not-so-secret bases constructed across Iraq.
Grunts come last in the administration's concern. Go ask the maimed veterans who have been ripped off, not only of arms and legs, but also the allowances they should be getting.

NO... Unfortunately, we can not. The right thing to do was to never have gotten involved in trying to make them a Democracy, or leaving our troops there to begin with. We should have went in and taken out anything that their military could use to do any real damage, and at the same time checked out any spots that were suspected of containing WMD. If Saddam and his useless military was stupid enough to try and get in the way, he would have been rolled quicker than mud sliding out of someones ass after drinking Budweiser all night long. After cleaning up Iraq, we should have went home; All this because the UN is a pretty much useless, naive, and turtle like organization.

6000 Iraqi civilians killed last month alone, we are in the middle of a civil war between two factions. If we pull out they will settle it and somebody will take control and they can form a government as they see fit. Not a puppet government that is under the control of the Bushmeister. That is a government that neither side are going to embrace. Yes we should withdraw our troops out of Iraq now. We have made a mess and we are only going to make the mess worse if we stay.

The problem is if we left it wouldn't just be the Iraqis killing each other. Right now we're just standing between the groups as you said. Those varrious groups are financed & supported by foreign governments, intelligence agencies, & private citizens. That's Sunnis from Saudi, Syria, etc supportung Sunnis, & Shites from Iran supporting Shites. Our troops are basically a peacekeeping force. If you pull us out of the way, those other countries step into the power vacume. At the same time, the Kurds brake away to form their own nation, and are joined by large kurd populations from Iran, Turkey, Syria, & Jordan; trying to take territory from each of those countries. Right now we are standing between a very few hard headed insurgents, if we get out of the way it instantly becomes a regional civil war with al Queada beoming a major power in the void. In short, pulling out creates a situation a hundred times worse than what we got now. A situaiton we'd have no choice but to step back in & solve at MUCH greater cost. If we don't, than bin laden's vision of a united extremist mid-east becomes a possibility for whomever wins such a civil war; and according to his plan, that's the first step in reclaiming all of North Africa & Spain, on the way to taking over the world in preperation for the coming of Alah. On the other hand, if we win we've created a successful democracy with modern education in the heart of the mid-east that inspires other muslims to force reform in their countries, the end result of which is a new generation unwilling to listen to what crazies like bin laden have to say. This is an all or nothing campaign. If we back away & appease the terrorists like Chamberlain did for Hitler in the 30s, than we will truely be in WW3 with tens upon tens of US casualties at least, and that's hoping chemical or nuclear weapons aren't used.
Right now 90% of the violence is focused in a small area called the Sunni Triangle, and most of the rest of the country is relatively peaceful all things considered. It's not out of control, it's getting better all the time. Don't let casualty figures throw you off, the bad guys fight harder when they're backed in a corner & desperate. In a couple years we'll have most of our troops out, and probably all out in five years, but you can't publish a date or the bad guys just wait around till you're gone & crush the govt. Don't be drawn in by their propoganda. They know they can't beat us militarily. They're just trying to make us bleed till the public whines a bunch & makes us come home. You have to stand strong & stay the course, or you'll have to deal with an unimaginablly worse enemy in the very near future.

We should stay until the job is complete.
Those 'loonies' are attempting to get you to force the troops to come home before the job is complete. Do you really want to cooperate with them?
BTW - you really need to talk to people who have actually been in Iraq instead of listening to the opinions of some reporter who has not.

Yes and no.
The military basically does three jobs:
* kill people
* blow stuff up
* stand in defense
So unless they're shooting at bad guys, blowing teh bad guys up, or stopping the bad guys who are rampaging toward us, they aren't doing their jobs.
Right now we're expecting the military to bring peace to a region. now, they will do whatever is asked of them or they'll die trying. That's what's so beautiful, and also so sad, about it.
We are asking them to do something that isn't in their job description, and they're dying, desperately trying to accomplish it.
Iraq needs peace now, the people there need schools, roads, power and water, etc. They need experts in government and policy and strong statesmen and -women, to help them find an answer to the root cause of the violence - sectarian and religious differences.
The military will still be needed, but hopefully if we get the Red Cross etc. in there to take some of the 'peace-time' tasks off the military, it won't be so much of an occupation.
It's either that, or get out of Dodge and leave them to stew in a mess of our making. That isn't sitting well with anybody, nor should it!

At least stay long enough to pump some oil back home. And when you guys do leave, just hop on over to neighbouring Saudi Arabia, which should have been the real target in the first place. And hopefully , other countries will help this time.

No the U.S. should not remove the troops. Today's generation does not understand what it took or what is required to keep our country safe. We enjoy a good life in the United States, thanks to our kids who volunteer. We had to occupy Germany and Japan for many years after the war. We will need to be in the mid east for a long time. Our country is soft!
