The dentist will give you a shot to numb your gums around the tooth. If the cavity is very deep he/she may have to put some pressure on the tooth to get the cavity removed. You should not feel anything but that pressure. After the med's wear off you may feel some soreness for a day or so. All in all, it is much better than a toothache! Good luck.

He will certainly numb your mouth with a shot of Novocaine. I've had several deep cavities filled and if you have a good dentist, it shouldn't hurt at all. The shot takes affect after a few minutes and you don't feel anything. The worst part is the shot. It doesn't hurt but it's mentally scary. Good Luck!!

There will be no pain after your mouth is numb. An hour or so later you'll have a little pain. TOTAL PAIN if the dentist doesn't numb your mouth first.

The dentist will most likely numb the area. It doesn't hurt. You might feel a little buzz when the dentist is drilling, but thats about it.

I've had 7 root canals and 2 teeth extracted. They will numb you, don't worry. If you can still feel it, then tell then and they'll give you more novicane. If you're really nervous, see if the dentist uses gas. Sometimes that helps.

DUDE RUN! I have a deeply imbedded fear of the dental chair. Maybe not so much the chair but the razor sharp drill that they jam into your tooth enamel then your gums. Ugh.
