I have been told that you should pick out a dog that suits you adn your family but it should also be a good companion (best friend). I live in an apartment building and I can only get a small breed. I was thinking a corgi but i'm still not sure. I can also get a medium sized dog so yea. I have two cats as well so can you help me find the right breed?

Well there are several small breeds that can live well in an apartment:
Yorkshire Terrier
Maltese
Chihuahua (but they yap quite a bit)
Papillions are noted for being very friendly and very good dogs
Teacup poodles (expensive)
Llasa Apsos
Pugs

Just research the breeds carefully to make sure that they are the right match for you and your family! Good luck!

I have a Corgi and she is wonderful. She is 25 lbs so a little too big for a lap dog. Corgis are working dogs so they need alot of exercise. I also have 2 cats and the Corgi is OK with them. Go to the public library and get out a few books about dog breeds. You might find one that fits you!

well,i've had a lot of fur-faces in my life, and i've recently discovered that a newfoundland is the absolute cream of the crop all the way around! BUT......they also get up to 170+ pounds! so,lol, maybe not just what you're looking for! you pretty much can't go wrong with a lab mix, labs are very smart, kind, loyal, gentle, if you find a litter of lab mixes that you like, just check the size of thier feet, almost always the size of the pups feet will let you know how big it will get. smaller feet, smaller adult dog. have fun with your search! and enjoy your new best friend!!

Go the humane society. If you can't find a dog there than you really only want a dog for status and should reconsider the whole idea of getting a dog.

You should get a Chow, they are a medium sized dog and they are very soft. But they are very lazy and don't need allot of exercise. They are happy with one or two short walks a day.

I think a mini dachshund (weenie dog) would be best. both of mine do great inside and also get along with cats, especially if raised with them as a puppy. if you adopt an adult dog-please make sure they get along w/ cats before you adopt! dachshunds are AWESOME dogs. they have a great personality and dont have a ton of health issues either! good luck i hope you find an awesome dog!

If you like big dogs, and if you don't, DO NOT get small little yapper, like a chiwawa or however you spell it, get a dog like a lab, Best dogs ever! or a golden retriever!

pugs are awesome. but unless you get them miniature, they're small to sorta medium sized. ****-zu's are also cute and small.
