He has only sent a portion of the troops he promised, and he has yet to begin building the fence......I'd be angry, but I never believed him to begin with. It was just another "carrot" to dangle in front of the hopeful American.

Shame on you, Mr. Bush!

He never planed on ever doing it, that was just to pretend to make people happy.

1. there is no budget for the fence,
2. they were to build an invisable fence, merely block some of the unguarded roads into mexico, put up motion sensors and the guard was going to merley give support to the border patorl.
3 the national guard was going to be unarmed and had no power of arrest

4. if you read what he planned you would have laughted at it.

Well I'm a "beaner" (thanks for the racist remark Scott) and I am glad that he didn't send the troops to the border. If we learn anything from the past we would understand that guarding and militarizing the border has only increased the influx of illegal immigration to this country because we force immigrants to stay in and settle instead of creating a circular migration pattern, which did exist when the border was relatively opened back in the day. So perhaps if we want to solve the problem we should stop doing what we have been doing for the past 20years or so and do something different besides "securing the border." OH and if the minute man want to protect our country then they should start to guard the Canadian border for national security purposes, you know since the actual terrorists came in legally and through the Canadian border because it is so much easier to come in that way. I mean, why would they want to go through all the trouble with the heavily guarded Southern border?? Pay attention!!!

As far as I know, the decision is being made on a state-by-state basis. I attended a National Guard briefing in Southern NM just last week, where they said that Texas and California decided that their respective national guards were large enough to meet the demands for their own borders, and Arizona and New Mexico were accepting troops from other states because their respective national guards were too small. I know that members from the Georgia and New Jersey National Guard are currently patrolling the New Mexico border.

I can see the political cartoon now. all the troops looking out from the border waiting for malnourished tired pedro to swim in with the tide while the real terrorists and destroyers of the American economy and culture (the Saudi s) are sneaking out on air planes from the united states chartered by Bush--like in 911. Along with all the other countries that will just have no problem getting in--like now.

Our active duty/reserves Military does not belong on the border. They are not here to police its own citizens. k?? got that??? okay now lets move on......
For that type of action we have National Guard troops, and those troops get deployed on the orders of the states Governor. K?.....still with me?
The President can take over that rule if the Governor can't do the job. So far this president is leaving this task up to the Governors. Where it should be.
See? that wasn't so hard was it.

I am really worried about our sitting president. Every day he looks less and less in control.

Our armed forces need training. why not start their training on all of the gov't lands at the border and give them the job of stopping trespassers?
Let the private landowners apply for the army corps. of engineers to train on building barricades on their private lands?
The army could also train, across the entire nation, in crowd control, and prisoner capture techniques and use illegals as their practice subjects.
As the armed forces criss-cross the continent anyway, the illegals can be easily transported by several methods to waiting naval troup ships and transported to ports in the home country of the illegals. they will be released, unharmed, far from our border in their own country.
As we pay the soldiers wages regardless of what they do, let's get them trained!

Yes. I'm pretty disappointed. But I am more disgusted with the Senate who voted a couple of months ago to build the fence, then last week voted not to fund the project. Idiots! Please contact them and let them know that unless they start voting as We The People want them to, they will not be reelected when their term expires. Call them, email them, fax them. Tell all of your friends to do the same.

We, the Silent Majority, can no longer be silent. We must stand up and be counted before it is too late.

Yeah, I'm all atingle with anger. I thought he said National Guard troops? I believe in such cases, the President needs to ask the governor of the particular state to send them. California already said he won't send any.

There should have been troops on the border Sept. 12th, 2001.
