It is possible.

When the water hits your larynx it can cause it to spasm, slamming your vocal cords together and suffocating you.

It's also called "dry drowning" because there's no water in the lungs, but the person still asphyxiates.

It is possible if the water is introduced to the lungs in a specific area at the right time of being tired and panicking in the pool.
If a person is found in the water and their lungs are full of water, they were most likely dead when they went in. Small amounts of water found in certain parts of the lungs suggest drowning.

water stops the air flow into the lungs. For example, air flows threw a filter. If the filter is in water, no air flow.
if you placed a tablespoon of water on a table, notice how much area it covers... now imagine how much area is in your lungs. The water will act as a barrier for the flow of air...thus the drowning effect occurs.

you can aspirate the water into your lungs, get pneumonia, and die from it if untreated for some time. but i don't see how it can actually happen from one tablespoon of water unless it is a tablespoon of water in a pond of water.. eg. more water in the surrounding
