If it automatically logs in and then automatically logs out immediately after logging in, you may need to reinstall Messenger..it could be a glitch in the Beta version. If reinstalling the Beta doesn't work, try downloading the lastest normal version (not the Beta).

Auto log-in is a preference, as is auto idle. If Yahoo is logged off, it is done by the server, and then Yahoo must log in again. Some ISP's will log you off after a few minutes of inactivity. Yahoo will go idle after a few minutes, as you set in prefs, but won't log you off. You can log off and still keep yahoo running so it will log in faster next time. If yahoo is actually quitting by itself, then go back to the non-beta version.
