Too many possibilities and too little information, to be able to troubleshoot it like this.

But, maybe intermittent, maybe overheating, maybe resetting due to power spikes, maybe short power failures. Does someone else nearby have a remote similar to yours...? Maybe they are turning it off accidentally. Is someone playing with your head? If they know their remote affects your set, and they are doing it deliberately (I never heard of such a thing, but I suppose it is possible) then maybe they are playing tricks.

Try putting in a fan or a better air conditioner, a better surge suppressor, or a little cardboard shield around the sensor for the remote commands. If none of those help, you may need an expensive repair. Good luck!
