I met a guy online who is older and lives with mom and never has been married. How do I break the instant messaging thing with him without being rude?

Just stop IMing him and move on.No biggie.That is if you really dont like him.But dont because he lives with his mom.Maybe she is elderly and he looks after her.

if it is just instant messaging...you already have an advantage. You can say all sorts of things and be nice. You can be upfront and say you want to be friends only. Its too fast for you and your looking for a more independant man, or avoid him a bit more and wean him off of your messages. Or just ignore the man and don't talk or give him any explaination. You know the situtation best so take the time to think of what is best. Good luck

You have to be upfront and honest. Just tell him, that although you've enjoyed chatting with him, you aren't interested in continuing a relationship on IM. You don't need to say it's because he's old and lives with his mom because then he'll start making excuses. Let him know you will be discontinuing the online relationship then block him from your IM and e-mail. There is no really polite way to do this, you just have to be upfront and follow through.

Okay so your question is how to tell him to stop talking to you without being rude. Problem is when telling someone that no matter how you do it is going to be either alittle rude or alittle hurtfull at first. Just be honest with him about the situation. Tell him your just not interested in him in a romantic way and that you wish him the best of luck in finding someone who is just right for him and unforuntaly your just not that gal.

This could be a warning sign, but perhaps not. My husband lived with his mom until he was 25 and then he moved to another state, where he met me. They were more like room mates than mother/son. They had totally different lives.
I understand your concern, though. You could just tell him you have made a connection elsewhere and don't have time to IM anymore....

do you not actually like him or is it that he lives with mom? and if so.. do you think it's worth breaking up over? .. if you don't want to talk anymore or not anymore comfortable together.. then just talk to him and tell him that it's not working out and that something is missing.. just be honest.. you'd hate to be hurt by someone so don't just stop talking to him.. that's not at all cool.. and it hurts when you care for someone a lot and they do it to you

Hmmmmm..........without being rude.........just ask him if he's having a gf. Then surely he'll ask you that do you have a bf. Tell him yes and I'm engaged with him and soon going to be married. You'll notice that he himself will starts pull off.

... I personally HAVE to live with my mom since she has to be taken care of.... so I just don't see the problem... but she's cool and likes the new trnds and stuf and she looks really young, so I seem like a siisy. Meh. well, I just block people I don't wanna talk to, but you should slowly start talking to him less and stuff and then just delete him off of your friends list.

I think you should be honest with him. Save the man! Let him know that NO GIRL, WOMAN, OR BOY want a old guy living at home with mama!
