only if you cannot afford it. God want's you to donate in order to provide for His church, but if you don't have it, you don't have it.

We are taught by Paul this: "Each of you must give what you have decided in your heart, not with regret or under compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver." (II Corinthians 9:7)
If you are giving $200.00 a month to your church, and you feel that this is what you want to do, no one in this forum, or anywhere else, can tell you differently.

If you are just doing it to say that you donate so much, or because you feel obligated to than I would say yes. However, if you genuinely want to give to the church and you really have that much extra to be donating than you should go for it.

I'll give you two other options.
If you are young, take that $200 and invest it in stocks or mutual funds. In 20 years you'll be rich beyond your wildest dreams. And at that point, you'll have the capacity to give to charities of your choice and to give very generously. .
If you are mature, invest that $200 a month with people who you know who are struggling, young and old. Help them directly. Give scholarships. Help people get out of debt. Pay medical bills. Help someone start a business. You'll get a lot more bang for the buck investing directly in people versus giving to a church.

Deut 26:12 When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;
You should pay tithing for building up the Church... and to help the orphans, widows, and people who cannot work.. the poor.
tithe means 1/10th

Depends on your income.. if your cutting yourself short and you are finding it hard to put food on your table or pay your bills then yes its too much... however, if you have enough left over to buy a few cars 5 new guns every month and any other big kid toy out there, then maybe its not enough ... only you can judge in your heart what you should truly give

If this is the amount that the Lord God has placed on your heart than you should be obedient to His leading. If He has not given you that amount and you are just throwing an amount out as a guess I would suggest you seek the Lord and listen closely for His answer to you. And remember, He will never ask you to do anything contrary to the Holy scriptures.

Why do you give it to the vatican why dont you buy toys at chrismas for poor mexican children or to your local food bank or a womens shelter or doctors with out borders, Why give it to a multi billion dollar organization that is corrupt.
Donate the money where you can see its doing some good.
