how can i teach my lab not to bark at people he shouldn't be barking at?

Question

he barks at everyone, but it's the kind of bark where he still wags his tail (only pointed down.) i think he's somewhat scared.
the only people whom he doesn't bark at is me and my baby brother.
how can i teach him to befriend everybody else in the family??

Here is another solution:

When he/she barks at others (& other animals besides humans), what you can do is boldly, firmly, and some what loudly say "No!". While expressing your disaproval you can put your hand on top of his snout (the top of where his nose is), and gently but firmly press down. This shows domonace, and show's him/her to comply and submit to your wishes. They don't like it when you do this, but they know what it means LOL! Eventually he/she will get the point and not do it. When he/she obeys you while in that situation, reward them for it (but don't spoil them!).

This is the most humain way I know to teach a Dog.
It always works on them, eventualy...

Barking is a dog's way of talking. Why make him shut up? Is he using bad language? Pet him, make him part of the group. This will put him at ease over time and he won't feel so insecure that he has to talk all the time.

If it is because he is scared, you need to reassure him and have them pet him. If it is aggressive or a nuisance, a water spray bottle, or a can with pennies in it works well

try to pet him and get the person he's afraid to pet him at the same time and once he gets comfortable slowly back away
