I think most people are aware of the facts. Most just won't admit to it, especially hard core christians.
What really bothered me about this(aside from the fact I know of many innocent victims) is the fact the church its self would not except responsibility.
Hows that for an example for a mighty power carrying the word of god?
Oh yes, I know only too well.
And what makes you people think it has stopped or ever will.

Questions like these get tiremsome, but I understand why they are asked.
It is a horrible thing for someone to harm a child, especially when they hold a position of responsibility and leadership. I can't imagine how traumatic this must be for the child. Any person that does this should be brought to justice. I am a Catholic, and it angers me that some of the priests and bishops have done this, but this does not mean that all priests and bishops are like this.
I personally love my pastors at my local church. They are shining examples of how priests should be.
Please do not judge the entire Church on the actions of a few sick men. That would be unfair. It's like throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Regarding the answers above...
1. Ditto to AMDG
2. Paedophilia has nothing to do with being straight or gay - it has the same amount of prevalence in heterosexual males as homosexual males. Being gay has nothing to do with being a paedophiliac.
3. Sexual repression doesn't have anything to do with it either. Many sexual predators are 'happily' married men.
4. Statistically, the number of child abusers is the same/slightly less in the Catholic church than it is in your own community. Probably you don't know how many are there - you should check with your police department, you'd be surprised.
Paedophiles are sick individuals, of which there is little to no chance of rehabilitation.
My response to the question:
I'm not saying it didn't happen, but it is in the past and the Church has recognized it's failings in this area and are working hard so that it doesn't happen again.
So, it's done can we end this crap now? It's old, it's lame and it's just inflammatory and inciting negative and misinformation.

Firstly, a person's occupation usually has little to do with predatorial sexual behavior, unless that person chooses occupation based on their pathology (eg. little-league coach). Priests get a lot more press coverage for deviant behavior simply because they are priests. A doctor, lawyer, or teacher is just as likely to abuse young boys, but do not live a publicly scrutinized life of celibacy. So it's less likely that Priests in general like young boys, and more likely that people like to talk about it more.
Also, joining the priesthood is not a lightly-undertaken whim for personal gain or pleasure. It takes a great deal of dedication, and many years of intense education (more than a doctor, in many cases).

Sexual repression. They aren't allowed to marry and therefore they can't have sex. Also they are not allowed to masturbate. They get this "Naughty" mentality and become sexual deviants.
They take out this frustration on the weakest and most defenseless people they can find. What better target than the kids that the parents just dropped off.
Of course, I'm not an expert, and I could be way off.
Starwood - not all child molesters are homosexuals. Child molesters get off on power. Don't you notice the news when little girls are kidnapped? It usually ends up being a straight man that takes her, not a lesbian.

Think about it they're forced to be celibate which is stupid and their bodies have sexual desires just like any man. If you let the priest get married and get some they won't be needing to molest the orphans and choir boys.

The answer isn't that Priests 'like' them so much. It's that child predators choose to become priests to prey on them. Child predators aren't stupid; they know where their potential victims gather, so they make themselves available to that situation. Don't blame Priests, but don't protect them either. My recommendation is that any church having a possible predator should report them to the authorities for investigation and possible prosecution. Then the children will be safer.

What, if anything, has a Catholic ever done to you to make you this way?
Your "question" only shows your lack of intelligence and lack of respect for a belief system that you know nothing about, allows for gross generalizations about people you don't even know, and generally shows how idiotic you are.
Grow up and get a life.

All sexual deviates want control. It is easy to control children. Molesters are from all walks of life and denominations. Of course these molesters who claim faith are really the false witnesses we have been warned about to avoid.
