Mat 24:37 And as in the days of Noe, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:38 For, as in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, even till that day in which Noe entered into the ark:
Mat 24:39 And they knew not till the flood came and took them all away: so also shall the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:40 Then two shall be in the field. One shall be taken and one shall be left.
Mat 24:41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill. One shall be taken and one shall be left.
Mat 24:42 Watch ye therefore, because you know not what hour your Lord will come.

In Matt. chapter 24 & Mark 13 & Luke 21 is prophecy about the end times. To watch & pray means to watch world events & pray to stay close to God so you might be able to escape the great tribulation thats coming on this earth. In other words draw closer to the true God.

In revelations it means that watch for the signs, and pray about his return, the many signs of revelations are happening now today and we should keep god close to us everyday, because upon his return we will be judged.

Watching in a biblical sense means to stand in intercession being aware of the ongoings of our world and the lives of those around us...think of a watchman/guard sitting high among the turrets in a castle..that kind of watching, brother. And praying means to always speak to the LORD about all things. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. ~ Philippians 4:6. So, He meant all of the above, but apply it in this sense.

When he returns. The bible says that "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand." Once you're a Christian, you no longer need to worry about your eternal place (this doesn't mean you don't have to worry about following God's commandments). What Jesus probably meant was to watch for his return so you're ready.
It's like the (true) story about a pastor in Chicago. He taught a sermon to people who hadn't heard the bible before, and taught them Jesus and the need for forgiveness. He told them that he would explain how to be forgiven the next sermon. That night was the Great Chicago Fire. Many people would never make it back to hear the rest of the sermon.
Had that night been the return, they'd have been in trouble too.

I don't think he said watch and pray in Revelation, he said it in the garden of Gethsemane (which would be in the Gospels) ... he told the disciples who were with him in the garden to watch and pray.

We are, however, supposed to be anticipating his return.

it is very hard to answer the question not knowing what was said just before and just after the words you spoke. Maybe if you could find the passage and re-ask the question!

"Watch and Pray" means: watch for the Lord he is coming soon and pray for his arrival and pray for all those who are unbelievers.
