Red wine vinegar is made from red wine. Bacteria (called a mother) consume the alcohol and create vinegar. Store bought vinegars have gone through this process as well as pasteurization, leaving no traces of alcohol behind.

I don't think so. Vinegar making is similar to wine making, so, the name is misleading. Red wine vinegar isn't made from red wine, but rather, from grapes that are used to make red wine and put through the vinegar making process instead of the wine making process.
