I have a female friend who is 34 and has been seeing a 51 yr old man off and on and she likes him because he treats her well (opens doors, pays for dates, etc.) but she's hesatant to get serious with him, because his oldest daughter is only 4 yrs younger than her and it weirds her out?

It does me too a little...what do you all think?

That's the wrong question. The right one is "does she love him or not?"

Well when you get to be older, age is more of just a number. At 34 she's already experienced pretty much everything there is to experience and she should be od enough to be mature. If she feels like she likes him alot and/or loves him, I don't see what the problem is because she's old enough to make her own decisions. But if she was 17 and dating a 34 year old...then I'd be a little worried. But I think it's fine given her age.

Age doesn't matter, all that matters is if the guy loves her, if she loves him. Love has no limits and besides there isn't much of a age difference. I know an old 90 year old man who is married to a 65 year old woman. So while this guy was learning how to drive a car, she was learning how to drive a baby cradle

Those ages, 34 and 51 are not a real problem...he treats her well and takes care of her.

Likely he's successful and wants to share it with someone he likes...so she should just enjoy it.

No 17 years age difference isn't too much - she's making the problem for herself and will keep herself from being happy just because of some stupid preconceived notion about what is "proper". To hell with it its no one's business but their own - Tell your friend that if she's happy with the guy enjoys being with him and how he treats her - don't worry about stupid trivial stuff - enjoy and be happy!

she has to be comfortable with it for it to work. my boyfriend is 16 years older than me, and we are very happy together.

are they both happy with each other? if so, then, weird shouldn't really be a factor.
