Birds are really good at hiding their illnesses. I've lost several birds who appeared well one day and were dead the next. Sometimes it could be as simple as cooking with Teflon, as the other respondents have said, and the fumes eventually sufforcated your poor guy. Sometimes it could be neighbors smoking and the smoke getting into the home through open windows. Sometimes it could be a bacterial infection that didn't show symptoms because your bird was very good at hiding the illness. Someone in my local parrot club bought bird seed that his birds knew were bad but he didn't know. Most of his bird died of starvation before the situation was discovered. Sometimes it can be a draft, sometimes it can be genetics and sometimes it could be something no-one will know. If you're very concerned, get a necropsy (bird autopsy) done. It's not cheap, but it will help you discover what did or did not kill your beloved bird. :-) .

**Hugs** Don't be too hard on yourself. Sometimes stuff like this happens even with the best of care.

First i'd wait and see what is going on including your tiel. they could stay as a lot as 35 years. also pick to ascertain what's making him ill so as no longer to bypass it on to a special poultry. i doesn't have a conure or gray round an toddler. Conures are "motor vehicle alarm" birds. they're frequently VERY loud and ought to damage the listening to of a toddler, no matter if it ought to sleep by potential of the screaming. My cousin (an RN in a pediatrition's workplace) at the moment observed a baby that were bitten by technique of the kin parrot. The puncture wound became very deep and did get contaminated. Greys are very needy birds and that i'd be afraid that it ought to get offended and bite at an toddler, causing the above kind of challenge. also, greys, being very wise, ought to learn that you go back immediately to the sound of the toddler crying and learn a thanks to do an similar. then you definately may have a poultry and a toddler that cry. even as the toddler will improve out of it, the poultry will bear in mind how and ought to under no circumstances provide up. each and each and every of the undesirable issues being stated, I actual have heard that both should be large birds. i'd do my analyze on poultry web pages with vendors, searching for both the coolest and the undesirable. I actual have a number of those links on my website lower than, seek for poultry Board and Up At Six. the individuals on both web pages will be in a position to furnish you first hand expierence and which will be very useful in making a very last determination. i'm hoping all is going properly including your tiel and that he lives for most better years.

Birds are sensitive to things such as teflon pans overheating on the stove which produces a gas that is deadly to birds. Also, when you do the self clean thing on your oven it release teflon gas. Birds are also sensitive to cigarette smoke, and carbon monoxide (perhaps a car idling in the garage for a little too long).
I am very sorry for your loss. Also, birds cannot eat chocolate or have caffeine it causes their hearts to race and can be deadly.

I am so sorry that you lost your pet. I had a conure that I loved very much for many years. Is his cage anywhere near the kitchen? I read somewhere that teflon gives off toxic fumes when you cook that are dangerous to birds.

It is so sad to lose a beloved animal. I always think well.. I gave it a good life when it was alive.. but even that does not always help. Time will heal the wound somewhat but one will never forget.

It isn't your fault. I would provide a proper burial, and hide his cage. I am very sorry for your loss.

Birds naturally hide their illnesses for as long as possible. He was probably sick for a while and you never knew. Please except my sympathy.
