I have 2 doxies that we rescued that turned out to be heartworm positive and we need to treat them, but it is really expensive. We are looking for some place that may provide some financial help for their treatment. The vet is willing to accept donations, but I don't know of anyone that is just going to donate to us! These dog's conditions can be verified at Norway veterinary hospital (207)743-6384. Their names are Alabama and Kayla Thibault.

My dog which I adopted is also heartworm positive. I am going to have her treated in the fall after the weather is cooler. Since they have to be crated, my vet said I needed to wait becasue of the heat, but anyway, I was worried about the cost ($600) and I did some research. There are some natural products that claim they can treat them.

There's a great animal rescue organization in Portland, ME (we just moved from there...I don't know how far that is away from Norway) that might be able to give you some guidence. They are the Animal Refuge League, in Westbrook.

Good luck to you, Alabama, and Kayla!!!!

Call the SPCA. They may be able to help you with that, and if not, hten maybe they can lead you in the right direction to find someone that can help. Good luck.

Contact any and all local animal shelters. If they can't help you directly they will be able to tell you who can.
