MS VISTA is a whole new program. I will still run your 32 bit programs that run under XP but will not run the old Command mode (Dos Mode) any more command. It will be formatted under NTFS which you can do under XP with the convert command without loss of data. You should have your HD formatted with NTFS. A lot less problems. No more FAT32.

You will be able to upgrade Windows XP to Windows Vista, but if you are on an obsolete Operating System, you will have to reformat.

Windows Vista will have better support for 64-bit and dual-core processors. Better security and such. It really isn't worth the upgrade unless you're using a 64-bit processor or a dual core.
