Do you think the right wing Christians will be judged as harshly as they judge others they disagree with?

Are they disobeying God when they try to punish gay people?

Matthew 7
1"Judge not, that you be not judged. 2For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you."

You have fallen in Jesus' trap by your own words. Jesus said later in this passage, "Why do you see the speck in your brother's eye but fail to notice the beam in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when the beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to remove the speck from your brother's eye." (Matthew 7:3-5)

You tell us not to judge, and then turn around judging us by saying we want to punish gay people! What is up with that? We don't want to punish anyone. We would rather see them repent of their wickedness; not punish them.

Let me break down some errors in your assumptions.

1) Matthew 7:1 specifically, the word "judge" is probably not the best word in the sense we use it now. The Greek word there is "krino," (Strong's #2929) and means "to distinguish, i.e. decide (mentally or judicially); by implication, to try, condemn, punish..."

So, when Jesus was speaking of not judging someone, it was about condemnation. In other words, we don't decide who is going to hell. That judgment is left to Him alone.

2) Now, there is another passage: I Corinthians 2:15, that uses the term judge. This has more to do with discernment. The Greek word is "anakrino," (Strong's #350) of which "krino" is a root. The implications are different, though. It means "to scrutinize, i.e. (by implication) investigate, interrogate, determine..."

This has to do with observing facts, and making a determination.

In some of the other cases, Paul does use "krino," especially with the man who did the horizontal polka with his father's wife. (I Corinthians 5:1) He further qualifies that the judgment is so he can be saved ultimately, so even then, he is not condemning the man to hell. (I Corinthians 5:5)

Jesus also called us to be salt & light. We have not been particularly good at this, especially lately.

Salt, in ancient times, was a preservative. It stopped meat from rotting. They didn't have refrigeration. So a Christian acting as salt is to help preserve from decay the society they are in. They do this by living out their faith in full view of the unbeliever.

Light, on the other hand, exposes the things in darkness. As we live out our lives as salt, we are also called to show the world what God requires. This is what the world calls "intolerance." We also are to do good works so that God may be glorified.

as a christian, i expect to be judged in the same facet as any person ever born. the difference is: i believe that through the blood of Jesus Christ, i will be granted salvation.

as for those who condemn others: we should not judge the spirit of a person, because we are not divine and therefore are not able to do so.

as for punishing gay people: there is no provision in the bible for punishing people for their sexual appetites, unless you are God. since we are not, we can propose civil laws that may inhibit the "outward" aspect of being gay, such as marriage, but again, we cannot judge a persons soul.

the judge not.... is for those who would pronounce eternal damnaiton upon another.

Yes, the Flying Spaghetti Monster will incur his wrath upon them with his noodly appendage.

Edit: Oh, and for "billcompugeek," I'll choose the flaming homosexual, easily. Otherwise, I might lose my son. Here's what Jesus has to say about family values:

Matthew: 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Okay, I really feel that you need to read the whole Bible. Yes, the whole book. Front to Back. Don't just pick passages out to fit in your scheme of ideas. I think if being Gay was okay with God. The bible would of started out with Adam and Adam or Eve and Eve but.....It does not!!!!! It is Adam and Eve! Male and Female!!!

Let's say you have a little boy.

Would you trust your little boy to stay with Jesus Christ for a day or would you hand him to a flaming gay guy for a day? Just a thought.

I don't understand why people are so concerned with what Christians have to say but aren't interested, it seems, in what God has to say.
Does their opinion really matter or is it HIS that matters.
