I'm a little hesitant to call any religion ridiculous. I believe it's a matter of opinion really. Yes, a few things may at a glance appear far-fetched; but it's difficult to wholly discount the possibility that these preachings weren't in fact a reality.
In any case, if persons want to embrace such teachings I say, let them. It doesn't hurt anyone. As long as one's personal beliefs aren't being forced down the throats of others and people's individual choices aren't being attacked, it's pretty much fine with me.

Christianity is built upon the principle of faith. As humans in this world we feel we must see things in order to believe them but with God it is the opposite, we must believe in order to see. No other religion is more widespread or believed than Christianity proving that God wants us to spread the message. The bible has been proven to be historically accurate. While Jesus Christ walked the earth he proved by fufilling all of the prophecies that scripture provided beforehand, that He was the son of God. It takes just as much faith if not more to believe in a "theory" that was thought up by a mere man that still does not provide any real evidence, than to believe that an omnipotent being created the entire universe. Look all around you at nature, creatures, humans and how can you honestly believe we came out of mere chance. We are all born with a sense of what is right and wrong, if you believe in evolution then there are no rules to govern your life because good and evil doesn't exist. Life is too intricate and beyond our comprehension and if you believe there is no God then our lives here on earth are for nothing and pointless which is a very sad belief you are deciding to believe. God bless you.

No, I do not think Christianity is absolutely ridiculous.
Even to Christians (yes I am one) alot remains in question. I believe in the Bible as the divine word of God the Father who sent his son Jesus to earth to die on the cross and take the punishment mankind would have ultimately received. By this I don't mean Jesus died so that humans wouldn't die physically, but spiritually. Through the death of Jesus we have the assurance of eternal life with Him in heaven, as long as we accept Him as the son of God and strive to live by His word (the Bible).
With all that being said, the question of how we all came here (from just Adam and Eve or were there more people) remains to be answered. Even Christians disagree amongst themselves about this, saying that perhaps there were other people created that were not mentioned in the Bible's creation story in Genesis. I guess it is just something we will never know for sure.I do not believe in evolution, but intelligent design. I don't want to get into any arguments, but I can't see how the evolution theory could be possible. Complex life forms such as animals and humans could not possibly have just miraculously sprung from nothing. And, even if they did, it would have been a miracle and miracles only come from God.
As for Mary and Jesus, they are something you either choose to believe or ignore. The Bible isn't a book from which you can pick and choose what you want to believe. Take an encyclopedia, for example. It is full of extensive information about almost anything you could possibly wish to know about. Say you read a selection from the encyclopedia of your choice on "hurricanes" (for example.) Now that you've finished reading the entry, you are pleased with the information provided. Now say you want to read about "sea currents." But this time, after reading the selection, you decide that what they say about the waters following precise paths due to gravitational pulls and tides and that these sea currents affect weather patterns around the globe is too far-fetched, and you choose not to believe it. The same goes for the Bible. You can't believe parts of it and not others. It just doesn't work that way.

If you follow logic, you will never get confused. Whether you are a believer or atheist, sure you believe in cause and effect conception or cause and result principle which means every is a result of a cause and this cause is a result of a cause .... etc. until you reach the ULTIMATE CAUSE. Call this ultimate cause whatever you like, a god, an accident, nature whatever. This ultimate cause exists and it is the main distant cause of everything visible or invisible. This ultimate cause in this way is omnipotent and omniscient. This ultimate cause can do and know anything. If IT can do and know, so it means that IT is a MIND. If IT is a MIND, so IT is an independent EGO which causes or makes everything. If IT is an EGO and everything was made by IT is egos, thus there must be some sort of relationship between this EGO and other egos. This relation can not be complete or perfect (free and independent) unless the other egos can see and feel this EGO. So this EGO manifested itself in the most beautiful image that people (egos) are familiar with, that is their own image.

Wow, your points are skewed. We came from Adam and Eve, but then there was the flood, so it really wasnt all Adam and Eve it was Noah and his family, but you woulndt know about that would you.
Virgin Mary, of course you wouldnt believe a woman could remain a virgin, look at the day and time we live in. But she did.
Jesus was the son of God.
Have you ever reas a Bible. Have you ever researched THE bibl. Has anyone ever taught you that hald the things you condemn have basis. No?
My opinion, before you start throwin out blanket statements about someones religion, LEARN about it.
My opinion, you cant be an atheist if you believe theres a GOD.
My opinion, you are intoleran and sound like a 12 year old, so you argument only goes so far.
My opinion, doesnt matter to you, so whyd you ask?

I'm not religious either, and boy there are plenty of different ones out there. There was a special done on TV that explained the Virgin Mary. It said that in her days, a woman being pregnant outside wedlock was unthinkable, so it could have been her family's attempt to prevent any type of shame falling on the family name. There were also many different quests to solve problems, but everything is so old and altered by so many hands that it was neigh impossible to track down the real truth. So, religion remains just "faith," something one has to believe without proof and questions. To me, that's a difficult thing to do.
For the most part, I dont' have problem with it because they're entitled to their belief as I am to mine and this wonderful country of ours was founded on the basis of Christianity.
What I do have problem with besides the history of all the wars fought in the name of religion is if Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost are of the same essence, why did Jesus look to heaven and say "Father, why have you forsaken me?" when he was put on cross?

First off by tracing back the DNA in the feamale mitochondria sienticsts have admitted that humans probably came from a common ancester. Also if you think people can't spring up in 6 thousand years remember this; the population of the united staes has just about doubled since 1950(150,000,000 to 300,000,000) now thats only 56 years do want to do the math or should I. that is 16,071,428,570 there happy over 2.5 times the present population.

obiviously you don't do your homework.
Jesus did not say adam and eve were the first humans. it is in the old testament. you'd have to argue with the jews, the islamist and other religions as well.
as for the virgin thing? i find it much easier to accept than the following:
a gazillion years ago, the primoridal ooze gave up two strains of dna that became a one celled animal, that became a fish, that became an amphibion that became a lizard that laid an egg and out popped a chicken.
oh yeah, that somehow produced an ape like creature that split off into apes and humans.
oh, and dont forget that that would mean that this once in a trillion, trillion year thing to happen, it happened twice. once before and once after the impact of the great asteroid.
in this case, science not only contradicts itself, it proves that a statistical impossiblility happened not only once, but twice.
and you think my belief is rediculous? at least i can prove historically and archeologically my point of vew for the civilizations and the human aspect of Jesus, moses, mohommed, buddha, etc.

To address your points individually:
1.) While the story of Adam and Eve is clearly ridiculous (where did Cain find a wife, etc.) it is not limited to Christianity. Jews and Muslims believe in this as well.
2.) Virgin Mary: There is no evidence to suggest that Jesus ever existed, and plenty of evidence that leads one to believe that he NEVER existed.
3.) Why even mention evolution the way you did? Evolution is not anti-religion. In fact, most religious people believe that religion and evolution can coexist. Only the fundies deny evolution.

You have a problem believing Adam and Eve could have produced sufficient variations to add up to what we have today, but you believe that an inanimate collection of elements could have somehow come to life and it could have produced the variations of not just humans, but all life? Your belief requires more faith than mine.
If Mary had been raped it would have been much easier for her to simply have sex with Joseph than to make up this story.
If Jesus was just some insane guy who got himself killed, then how do you explain that he did it in a way that fulfilled the prophecies? That he would be pierced for our transgressions, not a single bone broken, that they would cast lots for his clothes,
that a rich man would bury him in his own tomb, etc. It was common for the Romans to break the legs of the crucified person to speed up death. Yet they did not do that to Christ. They cut open his side. How did Isaiah predict this 100s of yrs earlier? How could Jesus have made it happen after he was already dead? Again your Atheism require more faith than Christianity.
