I have seen, heard, read and researched many sources that prove that the Bible is historically, geographically, and archeologically accurate. Many non-Biblical sources also prove and speak of many things that happened in the Bible. No scholar has ever proved the Bible to be in-accurate. Also we actually have the ancient texts to look at, places to go to, etc.
None of this exists from my research of the book of Mormon, in fact many religious and non-religious scholars can easily prove the unreliabilty of the book of Mormon. I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem.
Thanks

Interesting answers so far.
Anyone who wants to watch a really great video, and in depth study about the reliability of the Bible vs. Book of Mormon can check out:

Very interesting.
Also, for a great book on the reliabiltiy of scriptures and faith, read "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel. He is an ex-atheist Journalist turned Christian who researched the biggest issues people have with the Bible and its a great text. He also wrote books called "The Case for a Creator" and "The Case for Faith". Great books for those scientific minded people out there who have questions about things.

I do believe some of the stories in the Bible. Even though I am an Atheist. The book of Mormon was written by Joseph Smith after they would not let him into the Masonic Order. Many of the rituals were even the same.

Even though there are many books (in the BoM) they all hold the same style of writing. In the bible you can read a book and say, "OK, this guy hates women" but in the BoM you get the feeling that it is the same person. It uses the word "exceedingly" and the phrase "it came to pass" way too often. And why was it written in Jacobean English? I mean I know why the bible is. It is due to the era it was translated in. People associate that with holy text now. I'm not sure if Smith knew this and did it to convince people or had no clue and just thought people used to talk that way in biblical times, but if it were a truly divine work it would not have needed to rely on that style of writing.

Mormon prophets even went so far as to claim people lived on the moon.

I don't think you will get anyone supporting it with anything stronger than "I just KNOW!" after all one of the great tricks of the Mormon religion is to put the burden of proof on the believer. If you don't "know" it is true, there is something wrong with you.

Mormon prophets even went so far as to claim people lived on the moon.

THAT IS NOT TRUE! Where did you find that? That is absolutely rediculous!

Wow, Nibley fan, awesome answer.

They found a stone called Stela 5 in the 1940s that is from South America that depicts Lehi and the Tree of Life and the Spacious Building. Lehi's dream is in the Book of Mormon, and this stone is authentic, not a forgery.

The Book of Mormon itself says that its purpose is not to be a history book, but a spiritual book. Although there is evidence that supports the idea that the Book of Mormon is an authentic book (the presence of chiasmus, for example) the best evidence is the assurance that comes from the Holy Ghost that the book is true. In fact, Moroni, the last prophet who wrote in the Book of Mormon, made a promise to his readers that if they prayed sincerely with faith in Christ, God would let them know by the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is true. So I encourage you to pray sincerely and ask God.

I know that the Book of Mormon is true, so I have no problem accepting the idea that the historical stuff will be filled in later.

I hate to burst your bubble, but those who don't want to believe in the Bible find numerous examples of statements in the Bible for which there are no evidences in history, geography, and archeology. That does not prove that the Bible is wrong, just that all of its claims cannot be substantiated by outside sources. Many scholars claim to have disproved the Bible. I think you just aren't aware of these people, just as you aren't aware of the folks who provide evidence of the Book of Mormon. If everything could be proven without a doubt using science, there would be no need for faith. But, keep asking and learning.

Quick question. Would you seek to learn Christianity from an anti-Christian. Would you try to learn evolution from an anti-evolutionist. Would you seek to learn about Creation from an anti Creationist.

Last question:
Would you seek to learn about Mormons from Anti-Mormons.

If you want answers, seek them from the source. This anti Mormonism is propaganda from people who really do not seem to have anything better to do than spew hatred. Don't be a hypocrite. Do the research without being arrogant. I have included sites to LDS Apologetics so you can have answers to these accusations. Usually the claims made by anti Mormons are very weak and easy to negate.

How do you reconcile the fact that not one shred of evidence is found proving: the red sea was parted manna fell from the sky lazarus was raised from the dead 5000 were fed from a loaf of bread and fish Christ lived Christ suffered for our sins Christ was crucified Christ was resurrected God exists When you prove those things, then come talk to me.

If you believe in God then obviously your going to say its accurate and its been proven.. People who dont believe in god and who believe in science have proof that god did not exist.. Who do you believe? You believe what ever you want too!
There is no proof that the bible is accurate as Man can only look so far back in time before they hit a brick wall! Why do you think they cant seem to determine with 100% accuracy what wiped the Dinosaurs out! and God was around long before the dinosaurs, so how can man look back that far? They cant! Its faith and its great if you have it in the bible, and its great if you dont! Its personal choice!

Heck no! Just like the Jehovah's Witnesses, New World Translation. If their calling is to seek the truth they will, eventually. Just pray for those who are given false info, and don't know any better.
