In general, a diet rich in water as well as both soluble and insoluble fibers should do the trick. Lots of fruits and vegetables along with whatever meat source you're eating should be fine.
However, if there is a family history of constipation (about 40% of all women are chronically constipated), you may need to supplement with additional fiber or there may be a mineral imbalance that has skewed one or more ratios that have to do with bowel motility (movement). If this is the case you may need to see a specialist.
If you have any other questions, feel free to write and ask.

Drink lots of water - not diet Coke, not coffee, not tea - WATER. Sodas have lots of sodium and will not hydrate your body. If you don't enjoy water, put some fresh lemon juice in it. Eat fiber and fresh fruits, and avoid sodium.
Pay attention to your diet. Many people have reactions to certain foods or chemicals like chocolate, caffeine, or high fructose corn sugar. If you suspect one of these items, cut it out for a week and see if your digestion gets any better.
