This is part of my friend's sage_grouse on livejournal's response to it. I repeat, I did NOT write the following, but I do agree with her wholeheartedly.

--
These people are not moral crusaders. They are not do-gooders. They are not martyrs. They are not victims of discrimination. They are not victims of anything.

They are stupid, selfish people who either failed to consider the possible situations involved in their jobs, or even worse, people who deliberately picked this line of work JUST so that they could **** with people on a higher, much more dangerous and direct personal level than the usual route of carrying big dead fetus signs outside of abortion clinics. Plus, they probably figured a job in the medical field would probably pay better. Good thing avarice isn't a sin.

I don't care if someone thinks that abortion is murder, or euthanasia is wrong, etc. That's their opinion and they can think it as long as they want. No problem with that.

The least they could have done is tell their boss that they would not like to be involved in these sorts of things, so that the boss has a heads up, you know? The boss could move the person's shifts around and whatnot so that they could avoid it, and still work in the medical field.

But you don't go "Oh, lalala, I love my job, I will do whatever someone asks of meee...OMG, someone's having an abortion? Nope, can't do it, sorry!" You don't decide as it's happening to not do it. Someone's in need of medical attention, you shithead. If your boss knew ahead of time, then he could have had some other person fill in for you.

But she worked as an EMT, where things kind of happen on the fly. Whatever. She's a dipshit and was rightfully fired.

When you sign up for a job, you should do that job to the best of your ability regardless of how you feel about your clients. If you think you will have a problem with some aspect of the position, you should not take the job. Plain and simple. There are places this woman could work that would agree with her religious beliefs. She should have looked before she leaped.

This might be the most slanted answer I ever give but where your friends indicated "**** with people." Is the operative sentence.

Your job is just that. your function and your ability to do something and if she couldn't do it.. then it should have been delegated to someone else. Were not parts of a machine were human and if she felt blitzed merely by seeing the word abortion on the screen then she could have handled that better then what happened. We can do it .. as were not gears.

Then again news stories like this will divide people in two.. as would be the reason I would surmise.

Now if you take the example of people employee for raytheon or bomb casting mills for munitions that are employed for war as.. we are seeing constantly happening. But employment is abit of an issue in the areas where these people live.. so the only jobs available are these munitions plants.. People work because they need to.. and they do it.. People with sons and daughters.. probably using these munitions.

Its up to an individual to make their path to something they can deal with.. but everyone has their tolerance.. Apparently this woman felt (the dispatcher) she was abit more revolutionary then warranted or maybe the exact thing happened she hoped would.. either way.. .. doings one job is rooted.. by the grip of their millier. or rather.. how high can they place themselves above the "world" in thier actions.

obviusly she thought she was a little higher in her actions and integrity doing something she couldent do.. And managed to handel it vary badly all at once.

Im sure a lesson could be taught here but the media surely wont tell it.

I think that it's good people have morals.

"If you're not willing to do your job due to "mooooral reasons" when you are fully capable of doing it, you should NOT BE IN THAT LINE OF WORK."

I agree. But think for a second. When someone becomes a doctor they think of helping people. Not killing children.

" What ever happened to considering the very common, very plausible situations that could appear in the line of medical work? Yes. People get abortions."

True

" Yes. People don't all want to stay at home with 97 kids."

Show me a person with 97 kids.

"Yes. Not everyone who has sex is a heterosexual married couple. It's possible. This is the year 2006. Maybe you should step out of your church for a few seconds and look around."

Think for a second that you had morals. Would you want to be surrounded in that which you found wholly corruptable?

"If a Muslim or a Jewish doctor were to refuse to treat a food poisoning patient because a bacon and pork and ham binge triggered it, how do you think people would react?"

The muslim or Jewish doctor would treat a sick patient because they're trying to get the person well. It has nothing to do with the animal itself. The person is sick and needs help. To say someone is sick when wanting an abortion would merely be an opinion.

"If a Hindu who worked at McDonald's refused to serve Big Macs because he personally did not eat beef, what do you think would happen? How hard would people laugh at him? As hard as I'm laughing at the morons in this article? Probably harder."

A Hindu would not work at McDonald's because almost ALL of the menu is meat products. Think.

"These people are not moral crusaders. They are not do-gooders. They are not martyrs. They are not victims of discrimination. They are not victims of anything."

You don't to be a victim to believe something isn't correct to do.
They still have to go home and live with their consciences, to them, they're killing an innocent life. It's true, it should've been something considered before the task actually happened. But the situation did happen. And she got fired. What's incorrect about this situation? Everything happened as it should the lady was still treated. One nurse had morals. It's just a matter of respecting their opinion.

"They are stupid, selfish people who either failed to consider the possible situations involved in their jobs,"

Possibly, but who would think of such a thing, I'm sure they're trained for driving gunshot wound victims and the like, usual pregnancies go to the hospital so the child can be born, not strung out of a human being with a hanger.

" or even worse, people who deliberately picked this line of work JUST so that they could **** with people on a higher, much more dangerous and direct personal level than the usual route of carrying big dead fetus signs outside of abortion clinics."

I highly doubt this.

"Plus, they probably figured a job in the medical field would probably pay better. Good thing avarice isn't a sin."

What kind of a person wouldn't think about pay when going into a job? Everyone only wants to better themselves, make money and be able to sleep at night as well.

Well, avarice is a "sin". I assume the "people" referenced in this tirade are the folks who work in abortion clinics.

Here's my question, "Why is a fetus only important when it's a fetus?" The doctor's, nurses, aides and volunteers killed in the clinic bombings were fetuses once. Who are your friends to decide which phase of life is more precious. Pro-Life my hind end. Pro do it my way is more like it.

If it's wrong, it's wrong, don't do it. but if you think it's wrong. why take the job? I think some people are shortsighted, i should know, I'm one of them. I took a job that i am having second (moral) thoughts on. I wish i hadn't ever taken it and am seeing the repercussions of living in a way that isn't honoring to God. People make mistakes, maybe didn't anticipate the entirety of what the job requires. it doesn't make them awful people. just human. i need to go find a new job now.

We should not have to avoid the medical field because of principles. Doctors are murdering babies at the rate of about 1 million americans per year. That's about the same rate at which Hitler killed Jews during the holocaust.

Every medical doctor takes an oath that they will do no harm.

Seems strange to me that they can break this oath and can legally cause harm through abortion and euthanasia.

I admre those doctors who can maintain their oath despite political pressure. Abortion and Euthanasia pay well. Perhaps they are selling their soul for money.

Well, the EMT needed to be fired. It's no ones call but her own whether she's right, but if she has a moral objection to things she knowingly may be required to carry out, she needs a new line of work.

the issue usually involves those who will not sell the morning after pill as a drugist.

that is not hipocritical, it is hypocrital. you see, the drugist and the doctors take the oath to not do harm to life and to give no pessory (pill or elixr) that will cause an abortion.

if it is for any reason other than their truly religious beliefs, then they are doing the "right" thing for their religion. it is actually their religious right, that is being infringed upon.

I think they should get a new job, if u cant do ur job because u have moral issues with it then u need to find a new profession. Like those pharmacists who wont fill prescriptions for birth control, it's crap, i dont need my pharmacists opinion i need him to do his job and give me my medicine. Its ok to have morals but u've got to do ur job as well!
