I usually use the elipical or a treadmill for my cardio, depending on my mood. I try and flex my stomach in and take short breaths but it never feels like a accomplish anything. Do anyone know how to do this effectively?

My instructor says to take a deep breath where your tummy is really tight (sucked in) and hold this position through the duration of the work out.

This alone will not give you dramatic results. As part of your work out routine, you should include a set of crunches/sit-ups along with your stretches prior to your work-out. Also, when you warm down do another set of crunches/sit-ups.

This will increase the results and speed up the process. To achieve a six pack or see any type of ab definition you will need to reduce the fat in your abdominal area , and build muscle. So remember for awhile you might not see any results due to the fact your body has to get ride of ALL the extra fat around your abs and once that fat is gone then your body will start to build muscle, hence the six-pack will appear.

Abs are usually the hardest part of the body to train. So as long as you are consistent, you will be okay!

Good Luck~

You can make a workout into a light cardio workout, by doing circuit training. To do this do ur regular exercises but without rest times. Just do one after the other. This will help you reduce your fat by burning calories. The more fat you burn the better chances u have of showing your abs.
