You could try reciting silly poems - to practice the words that you have trouble with. You could enlist the help of a good friend and have them listen to you to make sure that you are pronouncing the sounds correctly. It doesn't help to keep practicing the sounds incorrectly. This might help a mild problem. But it would be much better to seek professional help. At 21 you are very young and have a lot of living ahead of you. This could affect your self confidence, your ability to succeed in a career of your choice and socially. If you are attending a school - community college, college, or university - you could seek the help of a school counselor. You might also be helped by a university speech pathology program. The students need to practice with patients to learn their field and you might be a perfect candidate for them. It would help you both. Best wishes!

So sorry to hear that. They should have helped you in public school system. My six year old needs speech therapy and they are doing it a the public school system level. Speech thereapy is expensive. Some health insurnace plans cover it. Start there and see if they can offer you some help.

Join your local Toastmasters club, they have been helping people with public speaking and conversational impediments for many years. It's also a great way to meet and network with people in your community!
