She needs to be really strong; stage 4 means the cancer is really advance in her. She can do the treatment but there is not guarantee she will beat the cancer.

I am so sorry to hear that dear.

She will need a lot of support and she needs to see the people she loves, The family support and help is extremely necessary to help the patient to keep the desire to live.

Some days she will be happy, some days she will be depress, some days she will be cranky or grumpy, some days she will need to be around the people she love, some days she will ask every body to leave her alone. This is Part of the condition.

So if you notice one day she is mad don't take it personally. Another important thing, Bring her support, but do not feel sorry for her, at least don't let her know you feel sorry for her situation.

Finally, if she needs to being heard listen to her, if she needs to cry, cry with her, if she needs to scream tolerate her, if she needs you be available for her.

I hope she can go on, and beat the cancer.
DC.

There are usually 4 stages of cancer. But it depends on which cancer you are talking about and which staging system the doctor is using. There are different ways of grouping cancers. Some staging systems have more groups and some less.

Often doctors write the stage down in roman numerals. So you may see stage 4 written down as stage IV.

Stage 1 usually means a cancer is relatively small and contained within the organ it started in
Stage 2 usually means the cancer is localised, but the tumour is larger than in stage 1. Sometimes stage 2 means there are nearby lymph nodes that have cancer cells in.
Stage 3 usually means the cancer is larger and there are cancer cells in the lymph nodes in the area
Stage 4 means the cancer has spread from where it started to another body organ, such as the liver, bones or lungs

All forms of cancer is life threatening. I am not really unsure what stage 4 means but the earlier the cancer is detected, the higher the chances it can be remedied.

There are a few factors to weigh here. The first is if it malignant or not. The second is where it is located. These tumors can grow on many parts of the body. I have attached a website that should give you some better info. There is also a hotline that you can call. Hope this helps. http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Sites-Types/merkel-cell
