Close off all sun light and put a fan in a window setting it to exhaust from the apartment. If the fan does not have reverse than put it in the window backwards. Make sure all other windows are closed. By doing this you remove the heated air from your apartment. With out allowing the warmer out side air in. Than at night when it is cooler open one window on the opposite side of your apartment and allow the fan to bring cooler night air in. First thing in the A.M. close the windows and shade all sunlight. This will keep the apartment cooler for a long time. Good luck. be cool,

Do you have a fan? You best way to cool yourself off is to take a hand towel, and completely soak it with water. Wring the water out as best you can to leave the towel wet, but not dripping. Wear this around your neck with the air blowing through the apartment. As the wet towel heats up from your body temperature, take it off, and twist it. You know how they say the other side of your pillow is always cool? Same principal. As you twist the towel, the hot area will be subjected to the breeze from the fan, and cool off very quickly. You can use the towel ends to wipe off your face.

Go to the hardware store and get one of those industrial strength stainless steel floor fans, prop it up in front of you and enjoy...they work great, and they last forever....only cost about $20-$30.
Also, look around garage sales for window mounted A/C units, you can usually just hang them in your window. They're not terribly efficient, but better than nothing. Just make sure you check it out first, and take someone knowledgeable along. Some shady people that know a little about HVAC will take junk units, fix them up just enough to blow cold for 10 minutes, and sell them as-is. I learned that the hard way. Good luck.

Use fans to draw the hot air out the window.

Close the drapes on the sunny side of the house, then reopen when the sun moves to the other side of the house & then close those drapes.

Keep unnecessary lights & appliances turned off.

try to not let any sun in...heat energy from the sun can raise the temperature so put all the blinds down, close all the windows and run some fans to get the air moving...that should keep the hot air out

keep the curtains closed in the day and open a window at night. (close it in the morning!) turn fans on and if you can, put them by an open window at night so cooler air blows in faster. also, if it is very humid, put some pans of cold water around the apt. so the water can evaporate into the air cooling it off.

There isn't. If you open the windows and turn on fans, you'll just circulate hot air. Get an a/c unit.
