There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......
(L)isten: and validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.

There are different kinds of love, and everyone experiences them differently. There is our love for God, and His love for us. There is the love of family, like a parent and child. There is the love of friends, aquaintances, even people we don't know. And of course, the romantic love like between a husband and wife. All of them should have one thing in common--wanting what is best for the object of your affection, sometimes in spite of what you would prefer.

Only God really knows what love is. Man is made a receptacle of God's love symolized by the platter (as in the cup and platter). The platter is your will or a receptacle of God's love, the cup is you understanding or a receptacle of God's wisdom.

Larry, if you are really serious, then you have just made one of the most beautiful displays of love I've seen in quite a while. Love is thinking of others, doing for them, whatever and you have just displayed the best traits of it in your question.

Well love to me is when you think about that person all the time. And you still get butterflies in your stomach when you see them sometimes. Well I don't get butterflies anymore but I get a warm fuzzy feeling sometimes when my husband says or does things. :)

Love is a chemical reaction in your brain, similar to eating large quantities of chocolate, nothing more.
