It's probably having some kitten regression. She feels comfortable with your smell (the clothes) and that is what it was like for her when she was with her mother. I had a cat that we got when he was about 4 weeks old because his mom got hit by a car. He would sleep with my mom and dad and wake my mom up in the middle of the night sucking on her lip, ear, or cheek. He was comfortable with her, and was needing his mother. He never got broke of it because his mother wasn't around long enough to wean him. If it bothers you that your cat does this, then you can take them away from her, but I think it's sweet.

My cat used to do that also when he was a kitten. He was a Humane Society kitten who had been taken from his momma early. He still had the blue eyes when we got him. He would suck on your shirt sleeve or any other loose piece of clothing while you were holding him, as he went to sleep...you are just a surrogate mother. He eventually stopped as he got older. But he was quite a kneader, too.

My cat sucks and claws on wooly things, like sweaters or blankets, I was told it was something kittens grew out of but mine is 2.5 and she still does it (she has her own blanket she sleeps with). I got her from the pound and she was dumped at a very young age, so I think it was originally a missing her mother thing, but now its a comfort thing. Maybe its a simailar feeling for your cat?

She/he is trying to tell you that it is sleepy If the cat has it's own bed you should it here pet it a couple of times and let it sleep.

She thinks you're her mama cat. She's nursing off you for comfort. I used to have a kitten that sucked on the back of my nightshirt, while pawing through my scalp and purring. I tolerated the wet clothes to get that wonderful scalp massage!

I used to have a cat that did this out of comfort. Its just a way to pacify themselves. Kinda like why some adults still rock themselves when they are sleepy. Its just something your kitty never grew out of. :)

She was probably taken from her mother too soon. It's a reflex back to her kitten days for comfort and security. As long as she isn't eating anything she should be ok, but you might want to ask your vet on your next visit. The fabrics can be harmful if she ends up swallowing too much.

My cats used to do that all the time when the mama cat began to ween them. They stopped after a few months or so but that still like to lick my fingers and kneed me with their paws before they go to sleep. :O)

Your cat might even paw at you clothes. It is imitating the way it acted when it was nursing from its mother and that relaxes her
