Some doctors will do limited testing to confirm that you have a bladder infection and prescribe antibiotics - especially if you have seen this doctor before. Sometimes in an emergency room the doctors will do a lot more testing. They will often do a routine urinalysis, a urine culture, and a physical exam including gyno exam. This extra workup may be done because you haven't been to a doctor in a long time, they've never seen you before and they may not see you in the future, so they want to make sure you do not have any complications or underlying problems.
You shouldn't hesitate to seek help with a bladder infection. They can be miserable and if untreated could lead to a kidney infection.

Of course you can. Just mention it to the doctor. If you are not really comfortable with going to the doctor right now, pick up some cranberry gel pills at the drug store or grocery store. You will find them with the vitamins. If the infection is in the early stages the cranberry pills might solve the problem completely, but more than likely will just ease up on the pain. If you are prone to bladder infections take the cranberry pills on a regular basis. The pills seem to work better than cranberry cocktail drink which is not 100% cranberry. Feel better soon!

Of course you can. Your doctor learned in medical school that girls get periods (if he didn't learn in junior high, that is). It takes more than that to embarass a doctor and he will probably be able to find out weather you have a bladder infection even if you are on your period.

I'm pretty sure you can, if the urine sample isn't all that great then maybe you will get a nice doctor and if you just describe your symptoms they will prescribe you some antibiotics.

yes you can, and they should not have to do an exam either, they may want to to a urine lab but just tell them before hand that you are on your cycle, also i would go and get some cranberry tablets or pure cranberry juice, that will help with the symptoms. good luck and feel better soon
