I am 14, but I do agree with you 100%. It might not make sense, but what your saying is true. Women and young girls are loosing respect for themselves and today mothers might think its just normal or a phase so nothing gets done...I will make sure my kids grow up with respect for themselves and others along with some class and good morals...13 year olds should not be looking for sex at that age and not even looking for a realtionsip over the internet! You would think kids would figure out by now how many perverts and sick people seduce young women...maybe no one is spreading the word around good enough.

I agree with you 100%. We have the moral fiber of society to blame for that. 13 year olds were born in 1993. In 1993, the average age of people having kids (at least in my state) is 20. That means that the parents of these 13 year olds were the ORIGINAL latch-key kids from the 80's. They grew up with TV as their babysitter. They think TV makes a good babysitter, after all they turned out "fine." So while they work, the kids are at home watching TV. Its alot different now than in 1988. Remember Full House? Step by Step? Those were what kids in the 80's had. Now think about today with shows like Simple Life, the OC, and others that I would never watch. They show young teenagers having relationships, and what comes with relationships? Sex. So kids today are more curious than a generation or two ago. It is sad.

I do not think there is any way to prevent this, though. Actually, wait, there is. If they would require counseling as a "class" in school, we have half a chance at saving this world. But as long as kids from California are on TV having sex, so will our little Nebraska 13-year-olds.

I agree with you. I have seen numerous ad type of questions where 12+ year olds are looking for a relationship/sex/etc. I think it's sickening that these children are coming on to yahoo looking for such things. It makes me wonder where their parents are and why Yahoo would allow it. I do think that Yahoo should be 18+, but like with every other site it would be hard to verify everyones ages and even then you will still have the kids that sneak on.

I totally agree unfortunately these kids are lying about their age when signing up for yahoo it makes it hard to put an age requirement as a constituent. Kids find ways around anything they are not old enough to do. It is the parents that need to monitor the use of their children's computers. Sadly it takes some young girl getting snatched up by some predator for these parents to realize how dangerous the Internet community can be if you are young, naive and not extremely cautious! It's shame that not much more can be done.

First off, of all that you said...looking for relationships is not a bad thing...looking for friends is not a bad thing...the only bad thing that you mention is sex.

A child could just as easily go out into the city streets asking kids of the opposite sex for sex. Good parents either raise their kids so that they won't do this, or should be supervising their kids. Whether on-line or in person, the parents should be responsible for making sure that their children only go to acceptable sites.

That aside, the age is just a number. That 18 year old barrier does not separate mature from immature. It does not separate those capable of making the decisions which you would consider correct, from those who can not. Although the number of immature children who cannot handle those sorts of topics in a serious and proper manner may be apparent, you haven't called attention to the larger portion of the kids on-line who don't do that who would be losing out.

Also, it is a tremendous violation of their freedom not based on their actual personality, knowledge, reasoning...but simply on their age...which is nearly as ridiculous to judging by race, financial status, or social status.

I agree except for one thing. I am thirteen and I am not looking for a relationship or sexual intercourse. Lol I'm using to good of volcabulary aren't I? Well I do agree with you. I think it's not only wrong, but it shows how desperate people are. I mean if you want a guy from a different state, go visit that state and look. But I do not think this site should be for only eighteen and older. there are some people under eighteen that are responsible that deserve a chance.
Another thing is, kids and can lie about their birthdate.

If they got rid of all the 13-18 year olds, they would lose most of the people on here. All that advertising revenue down the drain...

Haha... and I think the 14 year-olds who agree with you, but are here anyway, are just funny.

I concur, especially if they're looking for relationships, and ESPECIALLY if they're looking for sex, as you say. In the end, though, it's the parents' responsibility to keep an eye on what they're doing online. Even if you tried to set an age limit, I have a feeling that the kids would find a way around it.

Even if they did say only 18 or older, people would still come in that were under 18.

Hey Julie G its gatechgirl13, what I ment by that whole gay question was that in the Bible, it does not approve of gay marriage. It also says negative influences you before positive influences them! Also not all 13 year olds are not doing that. I am 13 almost 14 and that's not why I'm here. I just want my unanswered questions answered.
