One goes to sleep at 23:00 like normal people do. Wakes up at 5:40, just like that! Okay. Day is fine, does one's stuff - at 17:00, she is sleepy again, goes to bed.
Sleeps from 17:00 to 20:00 - do some work... and dammit, now it is 01:00 and I AM SLEEPY AGAIN?
Why so much sleep?????
What is this?

Airboy Hoss - I think you put your finger on the problem... check up my other two questions..... I banged with the bike into a car today - must be the injury and the shock, combined. Great!
Hope it will allright by tomorrow...

The question is probably why do I need more sleep than I once did? Without a basis of comparison to what you would consider optimum sleeping habits, it is hard to tell if this current trend is remarkable. But let's try, anyhow.
What has happened in your life lately that is noteworthy and that may coincide with a change in sleeping habits? Here are some likely suspects to get you started thinking:
Change in job
Change in residence
Family problems:
children
spouse
parents
Friend problems:
fight
death
relocation
Change in health:
Physical:
weight gain or loss
menopause
chronic illness
injury
Emotional:
depression
anger
jeolousy
dispair
fear
It is important to remember that the hours spent sleeping do not tell the tale. For example, someone suffering from sleep apnia (intermitten stoppage of breathing) may never achieve proper r.e.m. (rapid eye movement) sleep. By not being able to enjoy deep sleep accompanied by dreams, your body will never be properly rested, no matter how long you spend "in the sack".
Believe it or not, there are professionals that specialize in sleep disorders. It will help them if you do your homework and try to isolate some of the areas that you believe are factors in preventing you from becoming well-rested after a night's sleep.
Good luck and God bless you!

Your sleep pattern sounds very off.
Try getting to bed by 10:30 pm.
You should get between 6-8 hours of sleep.
When you do take a nap- do Not take one for longer than 20-30 minutes, anymore and you run the risk of the lazies or making yourself sick - also take a nap before 4:30 pm.
It takes practice and self discipline.
Personally I try to be in bed between 10:30-11pm, and wake at 5:15ish am then am busy until around 1 pm. I take a short na for 20-30 minutes between 2-3 pm.
If you have trouble sleeping then try some natural remedies from a health food store.
talk to your family doctor about our probem if you have been feeling his way for along time already...
Give yourself at least a month of really trying to follow a healthy sleeping schedule.
If a month has passed and you still feel odd then you should definetly see a doctor if you haven't already.
Drink plenty of water too.
Tell your doctor everything you are feeling or having problems with holding any informtion back you think isn't important could still help him find out what is wrong with you.
Good luck.

Go to bed earlier and wake up at 5:40. You're staying up to late at night. Go to sleep at 20:00 and get up at 5:40. It's not consistent sleep that you are doing and it's what you need.

Just that you need some sleep. Try sleeping as much as your body wants it... and soon, it will become normal after you complete the required sleep/rest.
The accident shock may be a reason as well but it will be fine. Nothing to worry about it.
Once you are fit, start doing exercise a bit on daily basis.
Good luck and sleep tight.

What is this 23 and 17 o'clock BS?!
Just get the sleep your body craves and you'll be fine. Obviously if your body needs it you should do it! Don't ask your body silly questions like 'why?' Your body is an unintelligent animal that has needs.

You're sleeping scheduale is all messed up. You need to stop taking naps and just sleep once during the day or night. Once you get back on track you won't be as tired all the time. But no naps!
