i'm thinking of getting the bottom cut, but asking the barber to leave the top, and my sideburns completely alone. Is this a good idea???? I wanna be able to slick back my top hair, but I need to it to get longer, also I gel my hair sometimes too, so does having a shaved bottom make me look better. by the way i'm good looking, and having clean looking hair suits my face shape.

Sounds like you want a "Samurai Jack" haircut. Then, if you want you can put the long hair in a poni-tail. Might look good.

If the barber won't do what you want go to a hair dresser. tell her what you want.
